About this deal

Really Cuts – This is why you’re really here, reading this Bosch Rotak 34R Review; you want to know whether it really cuts, right? Well you’ll be glad to learn that most consumers are more than happy with the performance of this mower. It’s a mower that makes grass cutting easy and accessible for anyone given its attributes (lightweight, easy to carry etc), and it’s really more than capable of dealing with regular lawn maintenance, and is a worthy ally for those occasions when you miss a few weeks and the grass grows a little longer than the norm. As long as you don’t push it and expect it to deal with an overgrown mess, you should be fine. Many consumers mention good result on wet grass too. The 34R also includes a rear roller for mowing stripes, and grass combs to help you mow the very edges of your lawn. The main ergonomic issue with this mower is the handle trigger design. As you can see in the photo, the safety trigger is on the right-hand side. On most more expensive mowers, there are switches on the handle at both sides, allowing you to activate the mower with either hand. But with the Bosch, you’ll need to use your right hand exclusively.

Since all of the parts of this mower are manufactured in the UK, getting replacement parts is extremely easy. The blade on the Bosch Rotak 34 is one piece of metal that will wear more slowly than a plastic blade would. This metal blade also provides a clean cut to each individual grass blade, leaving your lawn looking professionally cut every time.Since the mower is quite light, it’s easy to manoeuvre. Even if you have limited strength, it’s still possible to push this mower easily – the wheels are very good quality. Do note though that the 34R is not self-propelled– you will have to do the pushing yourself. This isn’t normally a problem, given how light this mower is, however it can be difficult to use the 34R on steep slopes. About BoschSince the humble beginnings in Stuttgart, 1886, when Robert Bosch formed his own business manufacturing electronic components, the ‘Workshop for Precision Mechanics and Electrical Engineering' has become one of the biggest and best known manufacturers of domestic and industrial electrical products in the world. The willingness to improve on established designs started almost immediately and it is this ethos that has kept Bosch GmbH and Bosch lawnmowers ahead of their rivals ever since. This innovation is quite apparent in the present range of Bosch lawnmowers and garden products that include tools no other garden machinery manufacturer produces. Well firstly, we're pretty good at what we do. In fact, we'd class ourselves as experts. With more than 60 years experience supplying lawnmowers to both home users and professionals, we know what we're talking about. We pride ourselves on our high levels of customer service and we're happy to provide help and support throughout the process, from your initial decision making to after sales, servicing, repairs and spare parts. The service we're offering is a complete one, and unlike some other companies, we are specialists.

It may be difficult to tell the difference between Bosch petrol lawnmowers and Bosch electric lawnmowers. Bosch electric lawnmowers are much stronger and last for much longer that comparable electric lawnmowers from other competing companies. Even if you have a large lawn, a Bosch electric lawnmower can definitely handle it. There is no need to splurge on a petrol powered lawnmower for your large garden or yard when you have the option of buying a Bosch electric lawnmower as well. They are more environmentally friendly, easier to operate, and require much less maintenance than a petrol powered lawnmower. The price of this mower is quite good. It might not be the cheapest 34cm mower you can buy, but it’s definitely not expensive. The Bosch Rotak 34R is a small, lightweight, corded electric rotary mower, designed for small gardens. This mower is still limited to small lawns though, due to its size. We wouldn’t use it for anything larger than 300 square metres – otherwise you’ll be mowing all day. Mulching If, while replacing the blade, you find that your lawnmower is becoming clogged with grass and debris, it's probably in need of a good clean to keep it working to its best! Take a look at our article for a guide on the best way to clean your lawnmower.

Bosch Rotak 34 R Pros: What People Like About this Mower

Electric lawn mowers are a great alternative to self propelled petrol powered ones, especially if you have a small to medium sized lawn. They are also easier to operate than your average rotary lawnmower. If you’re looking for something even cheaper, you would probably have to buy a hover mower, or something with an even smaller cutting width. Customers rave that this lawn mower is extremely ease to manoeuvre. The front wheels allow you to get into awkward corners for an even, perfect cut every time you use it. Storage Less Efficient than it Should Be – The handles on the Bosch Rotak 34 R are supposed to fold down to reduce the size of the storage footprint of this mower, which in theory is a handy feature. Especially if you only have a small shed or garage that you keep your garden tools in. However, a lot of consumers complain about the ease of doing this, mainly due to the lower grade screws that are used to fasten the handle in place. As a result quite a few people just end up leaving the handles extended. Also, the 10 metre cable cannot be disconnected from the main body of the unit, and there’s no cable storage feature on the mower. So storage is definitely something Bosch could improve on with the Rotak 34 R. It features a 34cm cutting diameter, and a 40L grass collection box – there is no mulching function with this lawn mower. It’s powered by a 1300 watt motor, which plugs into the mains electricity supply via a 10m power cable.

The height adjustment feature on the Bosch Rotak 34R is very easy to use and can be operated with just one hand.watt electric motor which is more than enough to deliver the power you need for easy mowing, even if the grass on your lawn is a bit dense. You don’t get a massive amount of functionality with this mower. There’s no mulching plug for example. However, it does have a lot of nice features, such as the grass comb and cutting height adjustment lever. Adjusting the cutting height between the 5 included settings is easy, and can be done without turning the mower over, which is great. There’s a simple lever you can move to raise or lower the blade between 20 to 70mm, depending on how high you want to cut.

Bosch has included grass combs on this mower – they’re the orange parts you’ll notice on the sides of the mower, near the blades. These grass combs help you neatly trim the edges of your lawn without having to use a strimmer. They’re a nice thing to have, especially if you’re fed up of struggling to cut the edges of your grass. If you have a small to medium sized yard, then you will get a tremendous amount of use out of an electric lawnmower. Electric lawnmowers decrease in performance as their battery charge decreases, so this means that they are best used to cut a small amount of grass in a fast amount of time. Terrain Type Relatively Easy Assembly – It’s not as easy as pulling it out of the box and you’re ready to go; there is a little bit of work required on your part. But it shouldn’t be too difficult for you either, especially if you’ve assembled a few garden tools in the past. You’ll need to connect the handle and put together the grass basket. The latter task is the one that most people seems to struggle with, as the basket does feel a bit flimsy (on the plus side that does mean the mower overall is lighter) and might take you a few attempts to clip together. The small size of this mower also makes it more agile. It’s easy to turn in tight spaces, allowing you to do more precise mowing. Now we’re going to discuss the potential deal breakers; the most common cons cited when it comes to this mower. You’ll need to figure out whether you can learn to live with them.

There’s an electric start – no need to pull a cord to get it going. Once it’s on, all you need to do is squeeze the safety trigger on the handle to activate the mower.
