Key Benefits

Your personal choice must ultimately be based on the options available to you at the time of your choice. From my point of view as a vegan dentist, a basic fluoride toothpaste is all that is required for most patients. Recommended for children six years and older and people with sensitive teeth. Eco-friendly and safe I definitely see value in encouraging big companies to make more vegan products – to make vegan ingredient options more readily available, make vegan production lines and processes easier and cheaper to access – and to hopefully change industry norms. So credit where credit is due – Colgate making a vegan toothpaste is BIG NEWS and great for the vegan movement!

Active ingredients Calcium Hydroxyapatite and L-Arginine strengthen and restore tooth enamel, reducing sensitivity. As tooth enamel wears down, the dentine underneath becomes exposed – so if you wince when drinking something particularly hot or cold, your teeth might be overly sensitive. Sensodyne protects tooth enamel by forming a thin layer over sensitive areas, and actually re-hardens the enamel, too, thanks to a calcium formulation called NovaMin. Its important that toothpaste contains an effective but safe level of fluoride at 1000-1500ppm for children and 1400-1500ppm for adults. Is fluoride vegan? Rounded polishing particles of Silica and Dicalcium Phosphate Dihydrate help to gently remove surface stains and dental plaque. Active ingredients Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc Hydroxyapatite and L-Arginine strengthen and restore tooth enamel, reducing sensitivity.

Active ingredients Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc Hydroxyapatite and L-Arginine strengthen and restore tooth enamel, reducing sensitivity. Fluoride is often thought to be a “bad chemical”, perhaps “artificial”, “man-made” or an “additive”. Yet we only know about the benefits of fluoride for teeth because it naturally occurs in some water supplies. Fluoride, fluoride, fluoride

Strengthens and restores tooth enamel, reduces sensitivity - Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc Hydroxyapatite and L-Arginine Stevia Extract (natural sweetener) takes care of soft oral tissues and promote gums health. Ingredients ≻ I don’t want to defend Colgate specifically – but they are a big company that has been around for a long time. They make health products and medicines. The sad reality is that it was historically in the nature of that industry that they had to test on animals, and still is the case that new medicines must be tested on animals. Biomed Superwhite contains only natural ingredients and is made without fluoride, making it suitable for children aged six and up who can’t brush with fluoride while their teeth are still developing. It’s a great vegan-friendly option and will leave your teeth looking subtly whiter if used regularly. You will also note that Tesco, Coop, Superdrug etc all make and sell non vegan products and so are certainly not cruelty free. Toothpastes which have not been tested on animals are using data gained from ingredients previously tested on animals (as well as humans). Pearl Drops uses dental grade polishing agents like perlite to gently polish teeth and lift stains without damaging enamel. As it’s classed as ‘low abrasion’ it’s safe to use this toothpaste every day, and most people see results pretty fast. You can also clearly see the little pearl-like blue beads of perlite in the paste, but the paste itself is white (if you’ve used other Pearl Drops products you’ll know its other toothpastes are bright pink and purple). Whitening toothpaste is designed to be used twice daily, but shouldn’t be used more than this in case of adverse reaction. The main side effects from whitening toothpaste are mild gum irritation and increased sensitivity. If you experience these, it’s advisable to alternate between regular and whitening toothpaste to minimise your reaction. Strengthens and restores tooth enamel, reduces sensitivity – Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc Hydroxyapatite and L‑Arginine Aqua, Hydrated Silica, Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate, Dicalcium Phosphate Dihydrate, Glycerin, Sodium Coco-Sulfate, Cellulose Gum, Aroma, Zinc Gluconate, Benzyl Alcohol, Mentha Piperita Oil, Menthyl Lactate, Stevia Rebaudiana Leaf Extract, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate, Hydroxyapatite, Arginine, Cocos Nucifera Oil, Cinnamomum Cassia Bark Extract, Decyl Glucoside, Ananas Sativus Fruit Extract, Maltodextrin, Cinnamomum Camphora Bark Oil, Thymus Serpillum Oil, Betula Alba Leaf Extract, Plantago Major Leaf Extract, Sodium Bicarbonate, Populus Tremuloides Bark Extract, Sodium Hydroxide, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Limonene. The toothpaste contains three kinds of algae extracts (Spirulina, Laminaria, Fucus Extract), which have a soothing effect on gums. Bromelain, derived from Pineapple extract remove dental plaque and gently whiten your teeth. It’s a pretty pricey option – certainly the most expensive we’ve included here – but Strong Polished often seems to be on offer at various stores and online.Revitalizing Biomed SENSITIVE toothpaste with Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc Hydroxyapatite strengthens the enamel and relieves sensitive teeth. Perhaps unexpectedly, the Max White also features a unique ‘smart foam’ that aids in the removal of debris but also feels a bit weird if you’re not ready for it. There’s none of the gritty post-brushing residue that some toothpastes leave behind, and your mouth does feel fresh and clean for hours afterwards. We noticed an improved whitening after using it twice daily for a week and didn’t feel any increased sensitivity, either. Another added benefit is the flat, stand-up cap, which is really useful for keeping your sink area tidy.
