About this deal

The Samsung S20 has a 6.2-inch display, offering exactly 0.1-inch more screen real estate than 2019’s 6.1-inch S10. It doesn’t dramatically change the overall size of the phone, and its max resolution remains the same as that of recent Samsung Galaxy S models at WQHD+ (3040 x 1440). This does, of course, depend on 5G being available in your area from your provider, but even if it isn’t yet, Samsung is baking in the future-proofed connectivity. You’ll notice extra smoothness in games such as Alto’s Odyssey, which make the most of the 120Hz display – these really do look great. The improved 240Hz sampling rate also helps responsiveness in games that require a deft touch. With an elegant Triple Lens Camera design on the rear and sleek lines everywhere else, Galaxy S23 strikes the perfect balance between looks and smarts.

In other words, Samsung pitched this Plus model as more of an intermediate step than simply a larger version – which is a bit of a stretch. There aren’t that many more extras in the S20 Plus than there were in the S10 Plus that warrant the relative price jump… aside from 5G connectivity. Face Detection, Smile Detection, Panorama, HDR, Night Mode, Exposure Control, Bokeh Mode, AI Features, Scene Detection, Slow Motion, Time Lapse The S20 FE’s ultra-wide camera squeezes in twice as much of the scene you’re shooting compared to the main snapper – that’s more than comparable snappers on other devices. It captures shots at 0.5x zoom, compared to 0.6x on most, so you’ll see even more of your vista or group of friends in the frame. Now and then, colors looked a bit too bold though, as though the scene optimization had gotten overzealous, making images look rather artificial. You can easily switch off this processing feature though. Under the hood is a powerful chipset, either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 or Exynos 990 (where you live will determine which you’ll get) as well as either 8GB or 12GB of RAM, depending on whether you buy the 4G or 5G phone. And some people will only be able to buy the 5G phone – you can read on below to find out which versions are available in your region. There’s also a new 64MP telephoto camera, which may sound like a huge upgrade over last year’s 12MP telephoto camera. Here the individual pixels are smaller than last year’s camera, but the megapixel count is far higher and the aperture is wider (f/2.0 instead of f/2.4 – smaller numbers are better). Also known as Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition, Samsung Galaxy S20 Lite, Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 4G Network A sleek yet sophisticated device that powers you through the day. Featuring the most advanced Pixel Cameras to date, a huge battery life, and a stunning pOLED 6.7-inch display.

The zoom skills aren’t quite as good as the Ultra, but this 3x shot retains all the detail of the ball Whether it’s work, play, or somewhere in between, your always-on world should run smoothly. Enter, the Qualcomm Snapdragon® 8 Gen 2 Processor. The latest iteration promises dynamic gaming, with an improved CPU, GPU and cooling system. So even the most demanding online multiplayer marathons will feel like a breeze. We know an increase in screen size might be off-putting for some (there’s pent-up demand for smaller one-hand-friendly phones), and we have good news and bad news about that. First the good news: while the S20 is taller than the S10, it’s also a little narrower, with a 20:9 aspect ratio, and the screen is only marginally bigger. Android 10’s key features include a system-wide Dark Mode, which you can enable from the Settings menu, Digital Wellbeing tools, and ‘Bubbles’ that enable you to display messages from communication apps over other apps that you have open.If you do decide to shoot in 8K, you can hit the camera button when you're recording to take a 33MP still image. This should be useful if you want a high-quality snap while you're already filming video. The Galaxy S20 Plus connects to both mmWave and sub-6 5G networks, making it one of the first mainstream phones to do so at the time. That number has grown since but it remains an attractive option -- in theory, anyway. Brace yourself: you’re going to pay more for the Galaxy S20 than the Galaxy S10 due to its 5G upgrade, improved cameras and larger 6.2-inch 120Hz display. With Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, capture spectacular details after dark. The quad-lens setup boasts an incredible 200MP Ultra High-Resolution Rear Camera for exceptional detail in every image. The Night mode here is particularly useful, as it utilizes the main camera’s large sensor to take in lots of light in low-light settings. It’s pretty easy to use, as you don’t have to hold the phone still for too long, as some night modes require you to do, and the resulting pictures are pretty well-lit.

The latest generation of mobile processing power has landed – enter the Qualcomm Snapdragon® 8 Gen 2 Processor. The Galaxy S23 Series can take your multitasking, gaming and photography to the next level. The worry-free battery will power you through. At O2, we have a range of Android Tablets available on pay monthly plans or pay as you go. Choose from the latest devices including the new Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra. Alas, Samsung seems to have taken a pared-down approach when it comes to the Galaxy S20’s design. In an era of foldable phones, the S20 lineup looks rather utilitarian in comparison, with the usual chrome-tinted edges – which still look nice by the way – and pearlescent finishes on the rear glass panel failing to offer anything particularly new or groundbreaking. Displays on Samsung’s flagship have long been considered the best, and with the Galaxy S20, the company adds a much-requested feature: a 120Hz refresh rate. The issue is that 120Hz display. I managed 90-120 minutes less screen-on time with this option enabled during my week with the phone than when it was set to 60Hz (about four hours). Keep things at 60Hz and FHD+ and you’ll easily make it through the day without much fuss. The Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition comes with Android 10 built in, though you can now update it to Android 12. Before the Galaxy S20 FE’s launch, Samsung promised that future phones would get at least three years of Android updates, so you’ll definitely get Android 13, and perhaps beyond. This is particularly pertinent when you’re mobile gaming as it allows for a more immersive experience and could even give you the edge over an opponent, but it makes everyday things like scrolling through your social media feeds look smoother too. We reviewed the 5G version of the phone, and this review will mostly focus on that device as it's the more commonly available handset. That’s not especially remarkable, but it seems that battery life is more or less keeping pace with innovation: you can eke out a bit more life by reducing the display resolution or dropping the refresh rate down to 60Hz; conversely, you can max-out the screen tech that’s on offer, but battery life will suffer accordingly. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen this on a smartphone - both the Asus ROG Phone 2 and Razer Phone 2 feature similar tech - but this is arguably the first time we’ve seen it on a mainstream device.

AI-Camera, RAW Image, Single Take, Super Resolution Zoom, Space Zoom, Super Steady Video, Ultra Pixel Binning, Hybrid Optic Zoom A big upgrade for the Galaxy S20 is the maximum 120Hz refresh-rate display. This is double the rate at which the display refreshes on most phones, including previous Samsung devices, and what it means in practice is smoother scrolling and animations. This is the case with a lot of flagship phones now, and while it may disappoint some, the feature is less of a deal-breaker with more and more of us using wireless and true-wireless headphone and earbuds – and of course Samsung has you covered with its own Galaxy Buds and Galaxy Buds Plus. There are five Galaxy S20 colors in total, but not all of these are available in every market. The options are Cloud Blue (the handset pictured most in this review), Cosmic Gray, Cloud Pink, Cloud White and Aura Red. The S20 is scoring far higher than the S10 5G from 2019, which returned an average result of 2197, and the OnePlus 7T Pro, which scored 2584. These scores won’t mean a lot for the average user, but it’s a positive result for the Galaxy S20, and we found that it was reflected in day to day use.

The camera is one the big focuses here. Even though it’s the Galaxy S20 Ultra that benefits from the fancy new additions (108-megapixel main sensor, 100x zoom, 40-megapixel selfie), the S20 offers a significant upgrade. I prefer the photos and shooting experience here anyway as S20 Ultra struggles with a load of focus issues. These were fixed on the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. Finally, let’s discuss the Galaxy S20’s new camera capabilities. As it’s the cheapest of the three phones, the Galaxy S20 actually loses the fourth depth-sensing unit found on the S20 Plus and S20 Ultra, but I mostly find these to be pointless additions anyway. The other three cameras are exactly the same as the rest of the S20 Plus’ arrangement; there’s a 12MP (f/1.8) camera, 12MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide and a 64MP (f/3.5) telephoto zoom sensor. This is a pretty ingenious solution for letting you capture both solo and group selfies without having multiple front-facing snappers, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see other companies adopt it. One last point: you might want to turn on facial recognition since the in-screen fingerprint sensor is poor. Camera
