About this deal

Freshly-squeezed orange juice has to be stored in the fridge at all times. Throw it out if it’s been left at room temperature for over 2 hours. I’ve had plenty of orange juice in my 24 years and have never really once stopped to be mindful of the flavour, mouthfeel or acidity of it. I just know I don’t like bits in my juice, and it goes well with vodka on the weekends. But have you been overpaying for it by opting for big name brands when most of the supermarket own tastes just as good in comparison?

The answer depends on the orange juice. Again, all types will go sour, but some have a longer shelf life than others. It was one of the most expensive in terms of cost per 100ml, and I’d have perhaps considered a cheaper winner if M&S hadn’t also cost 15p per 100ml. But Sainsbury’s juice tasted the closest to eating an actual orange, with a really fresh flavour and no synthetic aftertaste. It had one of the lowest sugar contents at 13 per cent, and was the perfect accompaniment to some buttered toast in the morning.

Orange juice contains harmful microorganisms that reproduce, even though you store it properly. When they’ve multiplied enough, they can cause diarrhea, stomach cramps, vomiting, and nausea when consumed. Upon drinking seven glasses of orange juice, there were just two we found delicious enough to ditch Tropicana for. M&S offered a nice tartness to it, with a flavoursome aftertaste, thanks to it ‘containing nine oranges’, however the real winner for me was Sainsbury’s. If you bought pasteurized juice from the shelf, keep it in the pantry until you have to use it. Place it in a cool and dark area, far from any source of heat and light. Changes in temperature and light will sacrifice its integrity. If there’s no space left in the pantry, any kitchen cabinet will do. Freshly squeezed orange juice is best consumed the same day it was prepared but is safe to drink within 2-3 days.So I decided to do some research on the shelf life of orange juice, and I’m here to share everything I’ve learned with you. Frozen orange juice, no matter what kind it is, will last forever! But it’s better if you consume it within four months, because its flavor will start to deteriorate after that.

I’m sure you don’t want that for your family, so here are some telltale signs that your orange juice has reached its expiration: Pasteurized orange juice should be stored in a cold and dark place such as your pantry or the cupboard. Store in the fridge once opened. For instance, store-bought orange juice has additives in it, so it has a longer shelf-life than freshly squeezed orange juice. Here’s a simple guide for navigating the different types of OJ:Pour the juice into an ice cube tray and freeze indefinitely. How to Tell if Orange Juice Has Gone Bad Asda’s offering was very sharp and quite acidic, leaving behind that tingly feeling on your tongue you get when you eat too much pineapple. There was nothing unpleasant about Morrison’s juice, but it was lighter in colour compared to the rest, but still didn’t quite match up to Tropicana in terms of flavour.

Not from concentrate means the juice has been created by juicing the fruit and then processing it without any water removal or reconstitution, whereas 'from concentrate' is slightly different - though nutritionally, there’s nothing much in it, they’re as healthy as each other. Yup! Just like everything else in the world, orange juice also has an expiration date. This is because orange juice oxidizes over time, which will cause microorganisms to infiltrate the juice. This results in a change in color and an unpleasant sour taste. In short, it ferments over time. It will result in a beer- or wine-like juice, and if you think that’s a good thing, it’s not. How Long Does Orange Juice Last? Both me and my dad agreed that it was a toss up between M&S and Sainsbury’s who had the best own brand smooth orange juice, but one just cinched it. And I’ll tell you why. But, if you want your orange juice to last for up to a year, freeze it! Just keep in mind that frozen OJ has a much lower nutritional value than fresh OJ. It will still taste good, though!
