About this deal

Not every miniature needs to be blindingly bright on the tabletop. A rich and easy-to-apply colour is the perfect accompaniment to help the vibrant models in your army stand out even more. These paints will give you reliable and resplendent results with no fuss – ideal for the core colour of an army. Lizzie: Contrast paints are an incredible tool for any painter. Whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced hobbyist, these paints are easy to use and highly versatile – allowing you to create a number of fantastic effects. The icon of Sigvald the Magnificent and the Decadent Host, his Warriors of Chaos army in Total War: Warhammer III. At this, Sigvald gave into a rage more akin to a Khornate Berserker than a Champion of Slaanesh, granting the Wight King yet another death. As Sigvald knelt over his opponent's body, he let out a scream of anguish. It was then that Throgg appeared behind him. The monster pummelled Sigvald into nothing more than a bloody pulp, angered by his constant taunts and boorish behavior, before urinating upon his ruined corpse... [5] [6] Wargear At first, Sigvald's every wish was made manifest. However, the prince's excesses eventually grew too obscene even for his father and, when his fondness for Human flesh was discovered, Sigvald was banished.

Sitting next to Volupus Pink, but even richer, this colour comes close to the intensity of Screamer Pink, but with the unique flow of contrast. Sigvald was present in Bretonnia during the End Times, sampling the finest flesh that Parravon had to offer. He was then, to his disgust, teleported directly to Archaon at the thirteenth Everchosen's whim. He took particular insult at being paired with the Troll-king, Throgg, the assaults of Chaos upon the civilised world that followed. [5]Hundreds of years later, Sigvald the Magnificent marches to war at the head of an army of admiring Slaaneshi followers. Any who the prince deems to be ugly, crude or irritating he has put to the blade, sometimes eradicating whole cities on a whim. Slaanesh spoils his adopted son as an indulgent father, and Sigvald's wild excesses only serve to elevate him further in the Dark Prince's favour. Lizzie: Easily one of the most vibrant of the green tones, this really draws attention to a miniature. I’ve used this to create some bright warp flame, and Nighthaunt magic. The “real” Contrast colours. These are the ones that do exactly what Contrast promises – pulling away from the edges and gathering in the recesses while still tinting the surface, creating mid-tone, shading and some basic highlights with one application. This was the majority of the range and comprises all colours I didn’t mention in the first two categories. Plus some colours have a tendency to produce smoother results while some dry rather unevenly. And while most Contrast paints dry matte, you sometimes get a pot that dries a bit glossy. The Army Painter’s competing product Speedpaint provides more consistent results but has some other issues like reactivating paint, as we pointed out in our review here.

Lizzie: This is a really fun, swampy green with a number of applications. Naturally, it’s great for giving those Mantis Warriors some time in the spotlight. Not only have all of the existing Shades been reformulated – during the process of refining these recipes, the Citadel Colour technicians were inspired to create seven entirely new paints.* Lizzie: As majestic as Sigvald himself, this is a really vibrant colour that shades and highlights effortlessly. Naturally, I’ve tried this on the Prince himself and I can confirm – he heartily approves. At Eldyra's direction, spells of concealment hid towns, waystones, and mansions from the oncoming foe. Harried and blinded, Sigvald's army was soon lost in the Cothique highlands. [2a] Emma’s Tzaangors have a vibrant, old-school colour scheme that uses Contrast for almost everything, from their pastel skin to their earthy horns – she’s even used layers of Contrast paint to give a metallic look to their golden weapons and trim.

Together with the new Contrast paints and reformulated shades, you’ll find it easier than ever to achieve the results you want and make your miniatures pop on the battlefield. We don’t want to repeat everything here, but there is one thing I want to point out: Not all Contrast paints are the same. The current range can be roughly divided into three categories: This all came to pass when Sigvald came upon a small valley nestled between a small mountain range, deep within the heart of the Chaos Waste. It is here that he found a serene and beautiful landscape, completely shielded from the horrors which rage across the northern hellscape. It was from here that Sigvald, in his desire for perfection, gave his soul to a daemonic Slaaneshi entity known only as Belus Pül. In exchange for his patronage, Sigvald promised the daemon that he would follow his dream and indulge himself in every kind of decadence no matter how slight. With his soul sold to the daemon, Sigvald was given the power he needed to acquire anything he so desires.

Jaded and capricious in the extreme, Sigvald the Magnificent ever strives to plumb new depths of cruelty in his conquests. He inspires fanatical devotion in his followers, for they know that in the aftermath of battle, they may sate their most unholy lusts without restraint. [1a] Sigvald's Folly Thousand Sons: The Thousand Sons are a Chaos Space Marine faction that focuses on psychic abilities and sorcery. They are often depicted wearing ornate, Egyptian-inspired armor in shades of blue and gold. Painting their armor in a deep burgundy instead of blue could be a unique twist on their traditional color scheme. Don’t forget to tune into our special Hang Out and Hobby sessions running ahead of the #WarhammerPaintathon, where our hosts will be on hand to show you just how these new colours work. Lizzie: What a name! Perfect on Daemonettes and other Daemons of Slaanesh – you can apply this over a light skin tone to create gaunt and sunken flesh. It’s also fun to use over metallics to create a really unique tone. The personification of beauty on the outside, but utter moral rot within, the Geld-Prince rides at the head of an army of utterly devoted followers who would give their lives for him without a second thought. Dozens of exotic females attend to his every whim and desire, and his elite honour guard, called the Mirror Guard, bear mirrored shields so that Sigvald might bask in his own divine glory at all times. Such are the depths of Sigvald's self-obsession that he will even call his retainers to attend him with their mirrors in the midst of battle, preening and murmuring compliments to himself as men plunge into battle and die all around him. These Shade paints are designed to provide instant depth and easily create stronger shadows, speeding up the process of creating great-looking models. While Contrast paints are designed to tint surfaces and give an intense finish, this new formulation ensures that Shade paints will settle more effectively into the recesses of your miniatures – while leaving the raised parts of your models relatively untouched.

Lizzie: Like many, painting yellow has always been a challenge for me. Not any more! Imperial Fist, alongside Ironjawz Yellow and Bad Moon Yellow, provides the perfect solution to your yellow painting needs.
