About this deal

Your car gets contaminated from road dirt/grime and brake dust as you drive on the roads. These contamination particles embed themselves into your cars clear coat which makes it very difficult to remove. Bonded surface contaminants cannot be removed by washing alone. Car detailing clay bars are made of natural or polymer clay and they look and feel like modeling clay. Usually they are square-shaped and weigh 100gr or 200gr. They are safe to use on delicate car surfaces because they encapsulate dirt particles within their clay surface, preventing them from scratching the car surface. To return your product, you should mail your product to: Clean and Shiny (UK) Limited , Unit 1 Redan Hill Industrial Estate , Aldershot , GU12 4SJ, United Kingdom Effectiveness –The consensus in the detailing community is that clay towels are not yet as effective at removing stubborn contaminants when compared to traditional clay bar ( about 90% )

Secondly, there’s no telling when, but over time these nasty gritty bits will come loose while you’re washing, polishing or coating your car, scratching the car surface in the process. So, instead of improving your car surface, you’re actually adding scratches and swirls. Thirdly, you’re applying a protective coating over contaminants that when they loosen, leave a spot (more likely thousands of spots) unprotected and vulnerable to corrosion. That makes no sense, does it? Do Clay Towels work? Yes, they do! In my opinion, it comes down to personal preference and specific applications when deciding between clay towels and clay bars. Clay Towels were designed to combine the practicality of a cloth whilst providing the cleaning and contaminant removing properties of a traditional clay bar. Harder to use in intricate areas –traditional style clay bars allow detailers to get into super intricate/tight places on a vehicle and be rather through with the clay process, and this is not always easy to do with a clay towelSquirt some lubricant or detailing spray onto your body panels and add a small amount to your clay bar. Each time you brake, friction from your brake discs and brake pads causes a cloud of sizzling hot iron brake dust to melt onto your car paint. The iron remover will partly dissolve these dust particles, which in turn will make it faster and easier to remove them with your clay bar. Pass the Clay Cloth over the wet surface. The Clay Cloth should be turned over or rinsed regularly to reduce the risk of removed contamination scratching the paintwork Even though it takes significantly longer to complete a car, my personal choice is still with the traditional style clay bar as I find that it will remove the more stubborn contaminants more effectively and I have more control in terms of being careful with potential marring. Prior to initial use rub the Ultra Clay Towel on glass using clay lubricant. Inspect surface of the Ultra Clay Towel before and during use. To clean the clay surface, spray clay surface with lubricant and wipe gently with hand. After repeated use, or if too much contamination is present, discard and use a new Ultra Clay Towel.

It’s important to keep this tool well lubricated to minimize the risk of scratching the surface. We used Mothers California Gold Instant Detailer spray which works best. No, a clay bar does not remove scratches. A clay bar, mitt or towel is designed to only remove the tiny car surface contaminants that cause the roughness you feel when you gently stroke your car paint. To remove scratches, use car polish . Car polish can be used manually or with a car polisher . Should you Clay by Hand or Machine? Important: If you accidentally drop your clay bar (yep, we know the feeling), throw it in the trash can! It will be littered with dirt and grit. Believe us: It will scratch your car for sure, it’s just not worth it. Grab a new clay bar instead. However, in your hurry don’t forget to always first spray a generous amount of lubricant as an extra layer of scratch protection between the mitt and your paint.Spray Optimum No Rinse (2oz to 1gal) on a small section of the vehicle (Alternatively, you can use your preferred clay lubricant) The Atomiza Clay Towel is designed to replace the clay bar in the decontamination process. By using a special kind of polymerised rubber (bonded to a microfibre towel), it is able to dislodge bonded contaminants when rubbed over exterior automotive surfaces, and thus mimic the result that a clay bar produces, i.e. perfect smoothness. Furthermore, it does this without needing to be warmed up first (or kept warm during use), and it can be rinsed completely clean with running water, meaning that it not only has a far greater life expectancy than a clay bar (up to five times as long), but also does not have to be thrown out if you accidentally drop it. However, perhaps the biggest benefit the Atomiza Clay Towel offers is a significant time-saving; on a like for like basis (i.e. mild clay vs. fine towel) it gets the job done much faster. The Atomiza Clay Towel is designed to replace a traditional clay bar in the decontamination process, and offers significant advantages in terms of efficiency and value for money. The Atomiza Clay Towel comprises a thin layer of polymerised rubber bonded to a closed-loop microfibre towel. Two different versions of the rubber are used to produce two different grades of the towel; medium and fine. The Atomiza Clay Towel works in a slightly different way to a traditional clay bar; instead of relying on abrasive particles to gradually abrade away bonded contaminants, the Atomiza Clay Towel uses its polymerised rubber surface to grab and shear off such contaminants. As a result, it cleans the surface much faster than a clay bar.

As per instructions, we broke the towel in on our test car’s car glass with plenty of lubricant and rinsed it thoroughly before we started working on the car coating. It worked great but it took a while to get used to. Unlike a clay mitt, you don’t have anything to grab a hold of. When the towel grabs the surface, that can sometimes be challenging. We folded it in half and again in half like we always do with any 12”x12” microfiber towel. This gave 4 clean towel surfaces (one towel side only) to work with, which saved a lot of (rinsing) time. Clay barring will remove most, if not all of those particles so they won’t mess up your paint during polishing, buffing or applying a protective coating. Different Claying Media and How To Use Them Clay Bars Gently rub the Ultra Clay Towel over the lubricated area until contaminants are removed and surface is smooth. Wipe area with a Microfiber Drying Towel. Continue in sections until the vehicle is fully decontaminatedYou should Clay your car if you are looking to achieve the best possible results on your paintwork. This type of decontamination is a must before you undertake any paint enhancement treatment such as polishing etc. Although you can perfectly start claying right after you’ve thoroughly washed your car, professional detailers often first use a tar remover spray and an iron remover spray before clay barring. The tar remover spray is used to remove tar in an easier way and to not smear it around with your clay bar. Decontamination of the paint surface is critical to proper auto care for a multitude of reasons. To begin with you want to remove all contaminants before polishing, so you can work on a clean canvas rather than dragging tiny contaminants across the paint during the polishing phase. Using the CarPro Polyshave Decontamination Clay Towelyou can remove surface bonded contaminants and use Iron X to remove anything below the surface of the paint as well.

If you don’t want to clay by hand, it’s better to just skip this step and use a polisher with compound right away, followed by a fine polish to remove the swirls and scratches caused by the compound stage of course. I find that when claying a car (either towel or normal clay bar) you will always get some form of marring afterwards and I recommend that you always follow up with a polishing step afterwards. How to Use a Clay Towel

If you clay-bar your car in a cross-hatch pattern with a fine grade clay bar after you’ve washed it thoroughly first, you can’t really harm your car’s surface. However, it is very important to keep the clay bar, cloth or mitt well lubricated to prevent scratching. Do you have to wax after claying? Thoroughly rinse the surface and use a fresh microfiber cloth to dry the area. The surface should be smooth to touch. This can be verified by placing your hand in a thin plastic bag and lightly running it over the surface.
