About this deal

Even if your appliance has an operating wattage of 300W, RIVER 2 could only run that one appliance. And, due to the battery storage capacity of 256Wh, RIVER 2 can’t even run your 300W device for an hour (watt-hours and kilowatt-hours measure electricity consumed over time).

Using RIVER 2 Max six times a week, 3000 full 100% cycles will last 9.6 years until it drops to 80%. If you’re looking for something more powerful than a power bank to charge your personal devices off-grid but don’t want to skimp on portability, RIVER 2 is a great option. Capacity: 256Wh Capacity (Wh) / DC input rate (W) = Charge time (h). How Long Does RIVER 2 Take to Fully Charge Using the USB-C Input?

Ultra-fast home backup switchover.

For example, you can connect it to an EcoFlow 220W Bifacial Portable Solar Panel since the solar Input of RIVER 2 is 8A Max,11-30V 110W, and the Open Circuit Voltage of EcoFlow 220W Bifacial Portable Solar Panel is 21.8V, which falls within that range. However, any extra electricity produced over 110W gives you no additional benefit. AC outlets deliver up to 800W, ideal for powering more demanding devices. RIVER 2 Pro can run up to 80% of high-wattage home appliances.

Yes, you can simultaneously operate the PPS and charge it. Simply plug the RIVER 2 into an AC outlet and plug whatever device needs power into the appropriate outlet on the PPS. My intension with the review was to fully charge the battery on the River 2 Max and drain it several times. So I started out using it for charging phones and a multitude of accessories around the house, and I immediately realized that wasn’t going to cut it. The River 2 Max has a 512Wh battery, and it would easily charge the likes of the Galaxy S23 Ultra for a few weeks before the battery ran out. This is where portable power stations such as the new EcoFlow River 2 come in. This beefy battery lets you power and charge multiple devices via different types of connections, even allowing you to plug in 240V mains devices while you’re away from traditional sources of power. Overall, I really like what EcoFlow has managed to do with the River 2 Max. The only area where the brand could have done more is around USB ports. The River 2 Max has three USB-A and one USB-C ports, and it would have been much more useful if it had two or more USB-C ports.Even higher-capacity portable power banks only store about 20,000 mAh of electricity. That’s roughly 74Wh. At 256wH, RIVER 2 offers almost 250% more electricity storage capacity. AC Output: 300W (600W Surge Power w/X-Boost) Once connected, the WiFi indicator will pop up on the screen as well and the app is fairly straightforward in allowing status indicators at a glance, in addition to controlling the various outputs and inputs. Not pictured in the GIF above is a time chart for charging and discharging power levels, which shows how long the various charging inputs have been on for and how efficiently at that—quite handy for solar charging should you need to see whether to move portable solar panels around to better face the sun. The connection is over WiFi, so you can theoretically monitor the power station from a good distance away, which is handily paired with pre-set alarms that will pop up as notifications. The settings menu has plenty of other options, some of which are shown here. In particular, I appreciated the ability to set the maximum charge level, which can be useful even on this LiFePO4-based battery unit that is good for 80%+ capacity after 3000 cycles compared to the Li-ion RIVER Pro, which only had this 80% rating for the first 800 cycles. As such, you can be rest assured about using the RIVER 2 daily for years at a time, and this is also why EcoFlow has increased the warranty period to five years on the RIVER 2 lineup from the two years previously offered. You can also select the maximum charging levels in each mode, limit the output as deemed necessary, and have firmware updates done to the unit that can add more features or resolve any bugs typically seen early in the product life cycle. This app removes the need for an onboard menu with touch screen or navigation buttons, keeping the unit physically smaller and providing more customization, control, and monitoring—a very useful selling point in itself. Whether you’re going on off-grid road trips, overlanding, or camping, RIVER 2 Pro gives you 768 Wh capacity, 800W AC output (1600W with X-Boost), and 220W solar charging input to take on the great outdoors in style. The EcoFlow RIVER 2 series utilizes cutting-edge Lithium Iron Phosphate battery chemistry — also known as LFP or LiFeP04. LiFePO4 is a newer subset of the traditional Lithium-Ion (Li-Ion) battery chemistry commonly found in older PPS models and Electric Vehicles. The 220W PV panel comes at a higher price, and some of the energy it captures will likely go to waste…
