About this deal

A lot of stove fans have some form of safety mechanism to protect them from the heat of the wood stove. This comes in the form of a bi-metallic safety device: either a spring or metallic strip. The blades and the overall structure of the device were constructed using anodised aluminium, so you can rest assured it is resistant to high temperatures. It will not warp or bend when left on the top of stoves, even for an extended time.

This stove fan measures 22 cm tall by 18 cm wide and 9 cm deep so it has a very small footprint overall, making it suitable for sitting on most stovetops. They contribute to the use of less fuel inside your stove. Surprisingly, one stove fan can help you burn less wood or fewer pellets by making a room feel warmer faster.

These stove fans also feature a wire handle on top so you can easily readjust it as needed. The entire fan, blades and all are constructed out of durable anodised aluminium and therefore resist damage from extreme temperatures. Their 85°C to 350°C operating temperature range is pretty standard. In addition, a bi-metallic strip at the base lifts the fan’s edge slightly whenever it’s nearing its maximum temperature. These stoves need dedicated stove fans that have their best operating temperature range shifted towards around 150 centigrade. You might be surprised but there are quite a few Peltier fans designed to work on a low temperature stove top, and even one Stirling engine fan. Stove fans vary when it comes to their operating temperature range. The minimum temperature for operation and the maximum operating temperature can vary slightly. But typically, the best stove fans have a range that starts around 50°Cand maxes out around 360°C. While these are the extremes, each stove fan also has an optimum operating temperature range that falls within the operating range. Fan Speed (CMF Rating) You can expect a stove fan to start spinning fast after about 1 minute, and reach full speed within a couple of minutes. This stove fan has four blades which help distribute air away from the wood stove and out into the rest of the room. It’s 23 cm tall, with a base that measures approximately 21 x 12.5 cm.

As with the other fans I reviewed, this VonHaus model is self-powered and doesn’t require any batteries or electricity. Instead, a thermoelectric power generator module works with the heat from the stove to generate an electric current to start the fan’s motor. The stove fan works automatically between 50°C and 350°C. As with many other modern designs, the My Stove Fan is fitted with a bi-metallic strip that bends, and in turn, tilts the fan to protect its motor and Peltier module from overheating; a common problem with all stove fans. If the components within the fan reach above 320 ° Centigrade they will become quite seriously damaged. We suggest you use our SFR stove thermometer if you expect your stove to reach temperatures of 320 ° C or above. The SFR stove thermometer can be placed next to your fan or on the flue pipe as it comes with a screw and wire to secure mounting. This gives you the comfort of knowing how hot your stove is and that your fan is safe from damage. All stove fans need to be kept away from the flue pipe – the Peltier powered fans are the most vulnerable to overheating. These fans should be placed at least 100mm away from the flue, if the fan is to be placed in front of the flue then a 150mm gap is required. Because of the unusual SmartFan construction their fans should be placed so the axial fan never draws air in that has been warmed by the flue pipe, which usually gets hotter than the stove top.The Voda 6 Blades Heat Powered Stove Fan is certainly a powerful little stove fan that is designed to fit into small spaces. It certainly suits those who don’t have much clearance above the stove. Whilst its six blades (in two sets of three) result in a relatively wider design, this stove fan still fits on most freestanding stove styles, so you shouldn’t have any problems installing it on an average-sized or small stove. Some online reviewers say that this fan is noisy at some speeds/stove temperatures but others are okay with the sound level coming from it. The Tomersun 3-blade stove fan has a 55°C starting temperature and a maximum of 300°C. It also contains a bi-metallic safety device to prevent overheating, which can damage the fan’s motor and its ability to push warm air in the long run. Simply set the fan in the appropriate position, and let it work its magic all by itself.
