About this deal

While thinking of making a working prototype, and patent pending; I met Dean Butcher at the Armeg stall during a trade show at the NEC in Birmingham.

Having launched this Spring, 2021, the simple yet incredibly effective Impact Rated Roofing Bolt Driver is proving to be a hit with professionals in the trade. The patented product was invented and designed by a professional electrician, John Mijalski, after snapping off a flat head screwdriver during a roofing bolt installation. Their head allows them to spread the weight further than a standard bolt, making them suitable for fastening to thin materials without causing damage. The majority of electrical work has been commercial and industrial installations, but I do quite a lot of domestic work too! While thinking of making a working prototype, and patent pending, I met Dean Butcher at the Armeg stall during a trade show in Birmingham. If I see them hanging on a shelf, it will feel slightly strange at first (I have to admit) but when I see someone recommending it to a colleague saying “they’re really good”, that will be job done!

I chose Armeg because I like the products, I use their Holesaws, ¼” drive bit sets, HSS drills and like the quality. With over 17 years experience in the electrical sector, we see the daily problems electrical technicians are faced with. Following its successful launch as part of the Armeg range, we catch up with the inventor of the Roofing Bolt Driver, electrician John Mijalski. When working at height, which is often the case with cable management, you need things to be easier! The majority of electrical work has been commercial and industrial installations, but I do quite a lot of domestic work too.We are unable to deliver to the Isle of Scilly, Jersey, Guernsey, Northern Ireland, Isle of Man and the rest of Europe. To make it even easier, the driver is magnetised to maximise the connection with the roofing bolt and hold it securely…. After a difficult time trying to get a company using spark erosion to make a few one-offs, I decided to visit a local engineering company and they eventually made me 20 blanks, which I then took to a spark erosion company (Neptune Engineering) Hertford.

After having a 3D version printed, I realised the user could not locate it easily because the cross was not visible enough. After snapping yet another flat head screwdriver during a roofing bolt installation back in 2019, John Mijalski decided enough was enough and embarked on a mission to find a solution to driving in roofing bolts. The technical storage or access is strictly necessary for the legitimate purpose of enabling the use of a specific service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user, or for the sole purpose of carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network. To make driving easier, the tools are magnetic to maximise the connection with the fastener, for secure holding and hassle-free start-ups. I do this daily on industrial contracts and sometimes on commercial jobs in the initial stages of the installation.

After having a 3D version printed, I realised the user couldn’t locate it easily because the cross was not visible enough. Drive wings provide increased contact with the drive edges, improving power transmission efficiency via a stronger and more secure location in the bolt. Using the Roofing Bolt Driver makes the process faster and more efficient, great for awkward installations.I do this daily on industrial contracts, sometimes commercial in the initial stages of the installation.
