About this deal

The Bosch Advanced Rotak 650 was easy to manoeuvre, but there’s no denying that it’s heavier than most. With a weight of 16 kg, it was noticeable when carrying. Despite the heavy weight, the wide carry handle on the base made life easier. I could fit both hands underneath it, which is rare. To learn more about the benefits of a mower that has the ability to mulch the lawn, please see my article “ The Benefits of Mulching Grass – Complete Guide with Pros & Cons“. Their expertise is very apparent in their present range of lawn mowers and garden tools as it includes products, which no other garden machinery manufacturer produces. The Rotak electric and cordless lawn mowers demonstrate the company's willingness to innovate with features like grass combs that enable you to mow right up to the lawn's edge and rechargeable lithium-ion batteries that have virtually no weakened performance after extended use. Below I have outlined the small differences between the Bosch AdvancedRotak 36-660 and the Bosch UniversalRotak 36-560 so you know exactly what you are getting with both mowers. I have also created a comparison table so you can clearly see the differences between them.

The lawnmower comes with a 10-metre power cable. If more range is required an extension cord will be needed. This length of power cable is relatively standard for electric lawn mowers. The Bosch AdvancedRotak 650 has strong 41 cm hardened and ground steel blade. Whilst these will need to be sharpened occasionally, they will provide a clean, neat cut and they are extremely durable. If you ever need to replace them, parts are easily available and reasonably priced.

The 41 cm cutting diameter of the Bosch AdvancedRotak 650 is ideal for medium to large gardens. The Ergonomic design and smooth running wheels will allow you to zip around the garden in no time but still provide the precision and ease of movement for curves and edges. Another feature Bosch products are well known for is a great safety record. Obviously, if not used correctly, any lawnmower can be dangerous but Bosch has done everything they can to make the AdvancedRotak 750 as safe as possible without reducing its effectiveness. Metal blades are generally sharper and provide a cleaner cut to the grass blade, resulting in a neater, tidier and superior finish to your lawn and garden. As as stated above, the metal blades can be sharpened when needed unlike plastic blades. The video below from Bosch shows the ProSilence in action. It shows the AdvancedRotak with ProSilence at different distances and compares it to a mower (Rotak 43) without ProSilence. This should clearly demonstrate the benefits. Even though I referred to the instructions throughout the assembly, everything was simple and self-explanatory. As long as you’re being safe, you shouldn’t need to rely on the manual to put this mower together.

Having a large grass box is a bit of a double-edged sword. On the one hand, it means that all the trimmings are collected and you need to make less trips to empty it out. A smaller grass box or no grass box will make the lawnmower much lighter and easier to navigate. The cleverly designed grass box is generously sized at 50 litres, which ensures minimal trips to the compost heap to empty it. You’ll be pleased to note that it folds completely flat for easy storage. The Bosch AdvancedRotak 750 features a 1700 watt powerful motor designed to cut larger and more demanding lawns whilst still providing a professional cut. This is assisted by the large amount of cutting heights that I will cover later in this review. The Bosch AdvancedRotak 650 has a powerful 1700W motor and has a 41 cm cutting width using a hardened steel blade designed for medium to large sized lawns. The smooth sound profile of the Bosch ProSilence prevents your lawnmower from disturbing your neighbours by reducing its noise level by up to 75% to 89 dB.The video below from Bosch shows the ProSilence in action. It shows the AdvancedRotak with ProSilence at different distances and compares it to a mower (Rotak 43) without ProSilence. This should clearly show the benefits of the feature. Thank you for choosing justlawnmowers.co.uk. Let's create a greener and more beautiful world together! Our Pledge Bosch have opted for a large 50 litre grass box on both the AdvancedRotak 750 and the AdvancedRotak 650 makes sense as both mowers are designed for larger lawns. The 750 mower does a fantastic job of compacting the cuttings into this very large grass box meaning less trips to the compost for emptying. The 750 does naturally become heavier as the grass box fills but I never had any issues manoeuvring the mower around the lawn. Having said that I don’t really have any steep inclines in my garden, but I guess you could always empty the grass box before it is completely full or starting to become heavy. However, if you do need to use the instructions, the images and text are extra-large and easy to read. The 45 cm cutting diameter of theBosch AdvancedRotak 750 is ideal for medium to large gardens. The Ergonomic design and and smooth running wheels will allow you to zip around the garden in no time but still give the precision and ease of movement for curves and edges.

With the Bosch AdvancedRotak 650 you get an integrated height adjustment feature that is so good and makes adjusting the height a breeze. The handle is located centrally and there is a perfectly placed button that is pressed to either raise or lower the mower. Again see my video above to see just how good this feature is. Even though I need the UK’s best electric lawn mower that can cut around tight spaces, I’d still invest in the Bosch Advanced Rotak 650 purely for its simplicity. Plus, since the handlebars are ambidextrous, this is perfect for my family. It is essential that your lawn mower is highly adjustable to accommodate different lawn types as well as to accommodate for the different seasons. The Bosch AdvancedRotak 750 gives you a choice of 7 settings ranging from 25mm to 80mm on the front and rear wheels. Wow! 7 height adjustments! This really is impressive as some mowers I have tested only have 3, so no matter what type of lawn you have or what your seasonal requirements are, this mower will be perfectly adjustable for your needs. The Bosch AdvancedRotak 750 model also has grass combs for great edges and corners as well as LeafCollect to gather leaves as you work on the lawn. Even though it’s fitted with a ProSilence feature, I didn’t notice much difference in the sound level compared with other lawnmowers. But if you’re sensitive to sounds, you may notice the reduction more than me.
