About this deal

A chair is placed on the floor with the start line being marked at a distance of 2 metres from the chair.

Each person in turn dribbles the ball up and down the course, through the obstacles as appropriate. Physical fitness is the differentiator. Civilian fitness instructors are not tested on their physical fitness (in a course critical pass or fail capacity) during their initial or upgrading courses, as it is not considered an important element regarding instructing clients to achieve their fitness goals. However, it is generally pleasing to witness a fitness instructor who looks like they should actually be a fitness instructor, if you get my meaning. Military Swim Test (MST), usually on the Tuesday morning. This consists of jumping into the water, treading water for two minutes and swimming 100m, as well as getting out of the pool unaided. This is a straight pass or fail test. Differentiation between Military and Civilian Fitness Training 10.1 Military Differentiation: Instructor Physical Fitness TestingThese events have all been designed to be completed with a single class in mind, with children moving between each event. Alternatively, each activity can be completed individually or during a time that best suits your setting. ABN 58/17, published in July 2017, informs us that the course duration is to change once again. The ABN also informs us that the Army is introducing a PTI logbook. Peters, D. (2012) The Army School of Physical Training – Aldershot: Foreword. Mind, Body and Spirit: The Journal of the Royal Army Physical Training Corps. 2012, pp.85-87. Currently, successful students gain the AAPTI qualification which is valid for 5 years and can join the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS) at own expense at Level 2 or 3 (dependent on experience). 8.0 Continual Professional Development

The team forms a circle, arms length apart. Boy 1 holds the tennis ball. The others, clasping their own hands together, hold out their arms in front of them to represent a hoop. Last week we had our iPad refresh day for Staff and S5/6. It’s been 4 YEARS since the first rollout. That is, 4 years of transformational digital learning, 4 years of imbedded digital pedagogy and 4 years of KHS leading the way! Thanks @inspireSBC for getting this done! #pridekhs Now, decide on a ball to use. Depending on the size of your “hoop”, you can use anything from an actual basketball to a stress ball. Regardless of the type of ball, the goal is the same – to get it into the “hoop”. Event number two: each competitor is allowed three throws at the target. Scoring, bull 3 points, inner 2 points and outer 1 point. All parents and spectators should stay in the spectator area of the playing fields to watch. There will be a great amount of activity going on therefore, we would be grateful if you do not cross the field and approach any pupils during the events. We appreciate and thank you for your support in this matter. P4-7 pupils will have an earlier lunch on Sports Day. (11.50am – 12.50pm)

For civilians, fitness training is optional in contrast to military physical training which is compulsory, although over the year’s soldiers and officers have developed a number of devious methods and excuses for avoiding physical training.Event number three: each competitor is allowed three shots at the goal. Scoring, 1 point for each goal scored. Now we split the school into teams of countries. Each team has members made up of children from Year 1 to Year 6 with a class teacher leading it. We have about 15 'events' that the teams move round and participate in. These range from relay races, javelin throwing, penalty scoring, basketball hoops (at different heights for KS1 & KS2 children) etc, with two teams competing at each event in turn. Every event has a scoring system, which is kept by the TA on each individual event. At the end of the morning, all the scores for each team are totalled up and we then have an awards ceremony in assembly to announce 1st, 2nd and 3rd - the entire team then get awarded their gold, silver and bronze medals. In the early 2000s, the PTI3 and PTI2 courses were amalgamated into the 9-week, later 10-week, All Arms Physical Training Instructor (AA PTI) course. 3.2 Post 2012

Military: grenade throwing, fireman’s lift relay, ammo box race, weapon assembling, magazine filling and sandbag filling. AAPTI instructors are required to attend the AAPTI refresher course every five years to remain ‘in-date.’ It is the role of unit RAPTCIs and regional RAPTC inspection teams to ensure which instructors are ‘in-date’. A large circle is drawn on the floor of the hall (size of circle depends on space available). 6 marks at regular intervals are made around the circle, with masking tape. Bowling is a foolproof group activity, and that applies even in the home version of this sport. It’s quite intuitive to replicate, and here’s how.Day one of the course consisted of entrance tests (also known as fitness or passing-in tests). Successful completion of which ‘confirmed’ my place on the course and this point also signalled that within the grounds of the PT school everyone had to run, and as a squad. Woe betide anyone who got caught walking (I believe press-ups till your eyes bleed was the phrase regarding a suitable punishment for this particular misdemeanour).
