The rice parent cultivar Kinmaze and the three esp2 mutant lines, CM1787, EM44 and EM747, produced by N-methyl- N- nitrosourea (MNU) mutagenesis, were described previously ( Kumamaru et al. 1987, Kumamaru et al. 1988, Takemoto et al. 2002).
