About this deal

DuoCleanis Shark's self-adjusting brush roll that automatically adapts to carpet and hard floor without you having to switch over. This model also has a smart digital LED display that keeps you updated with the battery percentage, and reminds you what setting you’ve got it set to, which are both very handy additions. When using it to clean her car, Helen was very impressed with the overall performance, with the vac effectively removing dirt from her car. It did struggle a little more to collect hairs from the carpet, but overall the suction was strong.

And unlike the Dyson, the display doesn't work while the vacuum is charging. So you have to rely on three less precise indicator lights on the battery to know when it's fully charged. I ran my carpet test to start with, placing a teaspoon of flour on the ground. Running the Shark IZ320UKT through the middle I got a clean collection of the dust on Standard power. Next, I ran the vacuum through the top on Eco mode and the bottom on Boost. There’s little to tell between the two, and it’s impressive that the Shark IZ320UKT can clean so well on its lowest setting. It delivered pretty consistent results on the flooring, leaving carpet – including on the stairs – tiles, and parquet clean. The DuoClean floorhead had a big part to play in this as it can easily transition across the various floor types, on which its twin bristle brushes work their magic. Anti Hair Wrap – a feature designed to stop hair accumulating around the brush roll – had some impressive results, too. This meant that neither human hair nor the hair of small furry housemates lodged itself around the brushes of the floorhead or the motorised pet tool.

You’ll often find when shopping for vacuum cleaners, that some are made for carpets while others are really made for hard surfaces. Not many of us are willing to buy one hoover for the wooden floors & tiling and another one for the carpet, we expect vacuum cleaners to be able to perform equally well on carpets and on hard floors, however, we can’t always expect that. Also, when hair wraps tightly around the roller, it can end up cutting into the fins, and causing them to need replacing over time just due to being cut to ribbons by hair. I’ve reviewed the top-of-the-range model with dual batteries and the pet tool, but there are three other versions that have the same basic features: IZ320UK (dual batteries, no pet tool), IZ300UKT (single battery and pet tool) and the IZ300UK (single battery and no pet tool). Design and featuresThis is a relatively lightweight unit, with a total weight of just under 4.6 Kilos, and while this doesn’t make it the lightest cordless vacuum cleaner on the market, the overall power vs. weight is incredibly good for anyone who wants a vacuum cleaner to be about as light as possible without forfeiting performance. It also has a well-positioned, comfortable grip, and this combination means you’ll have no problem using the Shark IZ300 & IZ320 for hoovering notoriously difficult surfaces including stairs, and even walls and ceilings. I then combed cat hair into the carpet and ran over it using the standard power setting. Again, everything was collected with ease. The Shark Anti Hair Wrap Cordless Upright Vacuum Cleaner with PowerFins, Powered Lift-Away & TruePet has absolutely everything you need (as you might've guessed from the name) to stay on top of the busiest of homes, in a cordless model. Bear in mind though that the 60 minutes is not based on using it on full power. If like me you like to use your hoover on max power the whole time then expect about 20-25 minutes out of it which is still very good and probably good enough to whizz around most homes. The Shark makes a lot of noise, so it's not a good choice if you tend to vacuum while others are asleep or working from home - even if they're on the other side of the house.

The data should reveal how regularly a vacuum goes on sale (if it's on 'special offer' for most of the year, the offer isn't all that special) and whether the 'before' price is accurate. 5. Shop around In this independent demonstration below (I’ve queued it for you) you’ll see how it handles hard surfaces, and keep in mind that this is on the standard suction setting. The other useful features of the smart display are suction level selection, and floor type selection. Not only can you toggle through suction power and floor type, but you can see which settings are selected via the display, which is another feature with obvious real, practical value.OK, the latest Shark vacuum cleaners might not have quite the mega suction power of the latest Dyson models, but the suction power they do provide is more than adequate for the vast majority of homes and they offer you a choice within the same range of cleaners that allows you to fit the right one to your requirements, home and lifestyle. Oh yeah, they are usually hundreds of pounds cheaper than the average Dyson as well which always helps. A cordless Shark vacuum cleaner aimed at pet owners. It’s equipped with ‘Anti Hair Wrap Plus’ which removes long, short and pet hair from the brush-roll as you clean, according to Shark. It also comes with ‘Clean Sense IQ’ that automatically senses the invisible dirt and adjusts cleaning power. Shark has included its DuoClean head, which has a soft roller for hard floors and a brush for carpets. For this model, Shark has included its PowerFins tech, which adds fins to the roller to really get into carpet fibres and agitate dirt. It’s also got Anti Hair Wrap tech, which really works to prevent hair from wrapping around the rollers. Shark claims that it has all the power of a corded vacuum cleaner but in cordless form, and after testing we couldn't agree more. It's got DuoClean which makes switching modes immensely straightforward, and the controls make it easy to see how much battery you have left. To charge, simply lift out the battery on the side of the dust tank and pop it into its charging port. Our tortoise (Houdini, named so because of how many times he’s escaped!) doesn’t give us any problems in this department, neither does Aristotle the Axlyotyl, he just grins at us from his tank, and even if he decided to take an excursion to do some “carpet surfing”, he’s as bald as a coot (and my father-in-law) so no worries there.

We really like to get a hands-on experience with the products which we feature across Ideal Home, in line with our testing protocol. It means that we get tounderstand more about whatyouare getting for your money. I measured the Shark IZ320UKT at 71.2dB (Eco), 75.4dB (Standard) and 76.8dB (Boost). That’s about average for a cordless vacuum cleaner with this much power.

He discusses how it did a great job both on hard surfaces and with his deep pile carpet, even retrieving small particles from tests he’d done on that same carpet weeks earlier, that other cleaners he’d demonstrated in the meantime had obviously missed. Shark models come with impressive-sounding features, including Flexology (a flexible cleaning tube), Lift-Away (a detachable handheld mode) and TruePet (an extra motorised brush for dealing with pet hair). The second was the wealth of new technologies that Shark boasted about with this vacuum when we got a first glimpse of it at IFA 2023. This vacuum has four detection technologies so that cleaning your home is more thorough than ever. When we were testing, we found dealing with high-traffic areas much easier thanks the the amped up suction and the FloorDetect technology makes transitioning into different rooms across your home much easier too. The relatively new innovation to Shark's portfolio is Flexology which allows the wand to go from straight to angled, is a feature which we highly rate. It means that you can get your vac under the beds and various items of furniture that are raised up on legs. What we found, however, is that the floorhead wasn’t as easy to direct accurately as is the case when it’s used with the rigid wand.
