About this deal

The movie suggests that the effect of war on children around the world has led the globe’s young ones to finally turn on their parents, a chilling motivation that sadly feels perhaps even more relevant today. But, of course, this doesn't go as planned when creator Gemma (Alison Williams) gifts the prototype to her eight-year old niece, Cady. The film has a recognisable cast including Corey Hawkins (In The heights, Straight Outta Compton) and Aisling Franciosi (Game of Thrones). Below is a list of movies that are expected or have reportedly been filmed, but we have yet to hear word regarding a release date. A horror comedy film with a star-filled cast (Nicholas Cage, Nicholas Hoult, Ben Schwartz, Awkwafina), Renfield is a reboot of Universal's Dracula series.

Ginger Snaps, John Fawcett's 2001 Canadian horror, is – along with Neil Marshall's explosive horror-comedy Dog Soldiers – the best of the century so far.

While we don’t know much about the plot, it’s reportedly a standalone Alien movie that will not be directly connected to the other films. It was the sixth film directed by Italian filmmaker Dario Argento, who launched his career with a string of highly stylized crime mysteries (the genre known as giallo) before delving into supernatural mythology with this one. That’s because the century in spooky cinema has so far been a gushing torrent of blood-soaked goodness – after years of boring remakes and reboots, we’ve been treated to a veritable smorgasbord of gore, ghouls, and guts emerging from some of the most exciting filmmakers working today.

Packed with Kingian tropes (childhood trauma, small town America, loss of innocence, friendship, ancient evil) and a warm homage to the 1980s, It is a fine piece of crowd-pleasing horror in which seven misfit schoolkids are stalked by an entity that takes the form of their worst fears – and yes, in some cases this is a clown. As well as guts (lots of them, often spilling out messily), there’s real heart and soul in there too, and it’s easy to see why Pegg and Wright’s careers soared off this film’s back. But in his feature debut, director Zack Snyder – working from a screenplay by a young James Gunn – offered up a new version of the zombies-go-to-the-mall story with a flavour all its own.

Secondly, there's the realism of it all – there's a kitchen-sink approach here, with improvised character-driven sequences that play out with such mundanity that when the shit eventually hits the fan, it all feels palpably possible. With no plot rumours to speak of, we can only assume there will be more mutilations, blood and gore to, erm, enjoy. When a bunch of teenagers venture into the backwoods for a weekend away, we can all guess what’s going to happen – or can we? Immaculate will be about a devoutly religious woman fulfilling a new role in an Italian convent when she finds out her home has some “dark and horrifying secrets,” per Deadline. It’d be the toy of the century, surely, as well a far more suitable babysitter than the stoner kid from next door.

Details are thin about how the second Smile movie will be approached, including casting, but it’s great to see this original horror concept getting a sequel! So it should hardly be a surprise that horror films are and have been a component of cinema in just about every country that embraced the art form. Then strap in for a harrowing tale taking in trauma, torture, and transcendence, as a victim of childhood abuse pursues revenge against the seemingly ordinary family she thinks imprisoned her in a slaughterhouse 15 years previously, and discovers unexpected horrors in the process.
