About this deal

Bug Bites is available in five different formulas; Tropical for small and medium/large fish, Colour Enhancing, Cichlid, Bottom Feeder and Goldfish. In 2019, due to popular demand, Fluval released Bug Bites as a flake, available in a variety of formulations for health, colour and vitality. Perfecting the process for the planet Potato - why? If the company was more specific one would know, but without further details it could be used as another terrestrial based protein (potato protein concentrate) or as a binding agent (potato starch). Who knows? Either way, no thanks to feeding potatoes to carnivores - the wheat in this formula should suffice as a binding agent. It also contains other proteins in the form of salmon, which is a rich source of fatty acids. Complex amino acids are found in concentrated protein. The larvae consume the fruit and vegetables, converting the nutrients into protein and good fats. After a 14-day feeding cycle, the larvae are harvested and dried into a highly nutritious flour, ready for Bug Bites production. More than meets the eye

Being highly palatable and comprised of clean ingredients, with no added artificial fillers, colours or preservatives, Bug Bites are easily digested, resulting in less waste and therefore a cleaner aquarium. The formula is made for tropical and cold-water fish. The insect-based formula contains high protein and is palatable to fish of all life stages. The product is made from sustainably harvested ingredients. Guppies, rasboras, and large cichlids can all thrive on this nutritious food. The product is also suitable for shrimps and other tropical fish. It is created using sustainable methods Labelled as “the aquatic food of the future”, Fluval Bug Bites first splashed into the fish food market in 2017 with a selection of pellets and granules in species-specific formulas, all of which were received positively by consumers and, perhaps more importantly, the fish that ate them! So now it’s time to see what all the fuss is about! Try the flake sample included on this magazine with your own fish and experience feeding a premium food that’s not only great for them but healthier for the planet! It's a high energy food with a minimum of 12.5% crude fat, which means the average fat level, or typical analysis, would be closer to 15%. IMO that's far too high for most tropical fish to consume as a daily staple. Especially species of fish that don't expend a lot of energy in an aquarium.

Sustainability is at the heart of Fluval Bug Bites, and it’s the innovative, eco-friendly production process that sets this high-quality fish food apart from the rest. The benefits of Bug Bites go way beyond being simply a tasty food for your fish. The presence of Omega 3 and 6 contributes to heathier skin, fins and scales which promotes vibrant colours, and the powerful mix of vitamins, minerals and nutrients builds a complete, balanced diet that keeps your fish happy and healthy. The answer is YES, a food that is created with staying as close to natural as possible and your fish will love. Bug Bites is fish food that provides all-around nutrition while staying away from fillers and using bugs!

Bug Bites boasts of not having any artificial preservatives, fillers or color. On the surface makes it appear fully natural and safe for your fishes and all together alternate food source. There are four variations of Bug Bites available depending on the type of fish you keep, plus a pleasant surprise was that Fluval included a formula for bottom-feeders, they didn't leave out our plecos! The formula of Bug Bites comes in two forms of granules and pellets. Granules are slow-sinking, suspending towards the surface and middle, while pellets are more suitable for bottom feeders. The best guppy food should have a good mixture of animal and plant matter. A good diet for a guppy should contain about 30 percent protein and five percent fat. Be sure to avoid food products with fillers and additives, as they will not provide any added value to your guppies. It is available in granules or pellets Protein is not just from fly larvae, they also include some form of salmon, fish protein concentrate, and peas. I would have preferred to not see terrestrial plant matter (peas) being utilized as protein (might as well be soybeans), or fish protein concentrate, and would have preferred to see a LOT more fly larvae meal. Several years ago, Fluval noticed a gap in the market for a fish food that would challenge outdated and unsustainable production processes and began to work on a formula that would offer a greener, cleaner fish food to the fish-keeping community. Insect protein is becoming increasingly popular across the world, not just in animal feed but for humans too. The term ‘insect protein powder’ has seen a 49% increase in Google searches since 2014!To undertake this task, Fluval teamed up with forward-thinking organisations devoted to eliminating food waste and nutrient shortage through the creation of renewable food for animals and plants. Additional fish protein is added in a concentrated profile to provide a more complex form of amino acid. This proves to be beneficial for the healthy growth of fishes. all species of fish readily eat it, except one, my adult midas. He prefers anything but, the bugs. I would expect most polys to eat it without too much issue. I suspect the high fat level adds to the taste/smell.
