About this deal

As far as the battery goes I haven’t noticed any annoyances. The battery life isn’t the most impressive on the market, but if you turn off your RGB lights you should be getting around 70 hours of juice out of the battery. That’s plenty for even the most hardcore gaming marathon, and if you need to top up your battery while you’re gaming you can just use the included flexible cable. Except for a software issue we’re hoping will be fixed imminently, the Model D continues Glorious’ fine run of form in delivering lightweight, supremely usable FPS-focused mice.

Glorious PC Gaming Race compatible Model D Wireless Gaming

Driven by data, run by a passionate team of engineers, testers, technical writers, developers, and more. There’s no smoothing, acceleration, or any of that nonsense to worry about so you can rest assured that every single move that you make gets transferred to the screen with perfect precision. That’s nice of them to include, but I do wish they’d gone all the way and threw in some replacement feet as well while they were at it. It’s always handy to have some spare parts around. Shape, Coating, and Mouse Feet The charging cable that you get with the mouse is Glorious’ so-called’ Ascended Cable’. It’s a flexible, paracord-like cable that comes with prongs at the end to give you a reliable connection, even when you’re using the mouse while charging. Glorious hasn’t always been a company that’s known for their stellar QC process so this section might be a bit more important for this mouse than it is for others. The Model D is Glorious’ first ergonomic mouse, and people who know their stuff will notice that it looks very similar to something like a Zowie EC. As a reviewer I try to stay away from making too many comparisons to other mice because I prefer to let products speak for themselves but I obviously cannot ignore the fact that this is basically a clone of the EC. I’m not taking a position in this whole ‘are copied shapes a good thing or not’ debate, I’m just mentioning it in case you want to try out this particular shape. Corsair Dominator Titanium First Edition DDR5-6600 C32 2x32GB Review: Abundant Capacity And Performance Completing the Glorious Model D Wireless Gaming Mouse is its iconic honeycomb design. Not just stylish, this framework keeps your hand fresh, improves grip, and allows the RGB lighting to vividly shine through. The bezel is manufactured from highly durable materials, enhancing the overall longevity of this gaming mouse.

One of the first things you notice on the Model D Wirelessis the fact that there are no more holes in the mouse buttons. Most companies seem to be moving away from the cheese grater designs these days (or at least reducing the amount of holes in the shell) and it seems like Glorious is following suit on this front. I can’t say that I have any strong opinions on the subject, though. I don’t mind holes in a mouse and I also don’t mind the feeling of my fingers resting on said holes, but I do know that a lot of people in the community don’t really appreciate feeling them underneath their fingers so on the whole this is probably a welcome change. When Glorious dropped their first ever gaming mousein the middle of last year it received a lot of praise, and rightfully so. The Model O shot up to be one of the most popular mice in enthusiast circles thanks to the lightweight design, fantastic cable and feet and flawless sensor, along with the fact that it’s rather easy to get a hold of (something that can be an issue with other smaller manufacturers) but it did suffer from some minor issues here and there. The unique feature of the Glorious Model D Gaming Mouse lies in the honeycomb pattern adorning the top and bottom of the mouse. Thanks to the multitude of cut-outs, the total weight of the mouse has undergone a marked reduction. The honeycomb pattern lends the mouse a unique appearance and enables users to enjoy an unhindered view of the mouse's interior as well as the mechanical parts. The RGB-LED lighting only adds to the unique looks of this mouse. The added benefit of this honeycomb design is the fact that not only does it look cool, it is cool - with your hands staying fresher for longer over the course of extended gaming sessions. We can’t talk about the finish of a mouse like this without talking about the holes, and in case you’re wondering: you don’t notice them at all when you’re using the mouse. That’s partially due to the fact that there aren’t any cutouts at the parts where you’ll actually be grabbing the Model D and also because of the fact that they’re really nicely finished and implemented. It doesn’t feel like someone took a drill, went to town on this thing, and called it a day; the cutouts don’t feel sharp or annoying at all.

It’s also worth mentioning that the PCB within the Model D is coated to protect it from sweat or whatever else might get into the mouse’s innards over time. No need to worry about corroding the circuitry with your clammy palms. Let’s start by stating the obvious: The Model D- isn’t the perfect mouse for trying to run a World of Warcraft raid or fly a plane in the new Microsoft Flight Simulator. Its six-button layout is intended very much for shooters, and it’s in shooters where our testing primarily lies. Glorious is a peripherals company that has had a meteoric rise over the past couple of years. Their first couple of releases were received in a rather ‘cold’ manner but when they announced the Model Omouse they almost immediately gathered an enormous following in the enthusiast scene. Despite some hiccups here and there (that’s really something that’s almost inevitable when you produce peripherals) they have now firmly solidified themselves as a company that produces high tier peripherals, complete with the latest innovations and trends. I wouldn’t say that lightweight is better per se. CS:GO professionals, for example, aren’t using lightweight mice en masse at all (only 3% are using a mouse that weighs less than 70 grams) so there’s definitely some personal preference involved. Aren't they just a trap for filth(dirt, dead skin cells, sweat...)? I know it happens with normal mice, but isn't this worse?Yup, reminds me of inside of the cabinet ;)

The Model D is an entirely new shape (well, entirely new for the Glorious line of mice that is) so it can’t really be compared to their Model O but it is nice to see that the company has taken pretty much everything that reviewers and consumers alike were complaining about with their first release and used that to improve on those aspects with the Model D. Before the lightweight revolution and the cable renaissance we had the sensor shift, where pretty much every respectable gaming mouse manufacturer started using flawless sensors in their mice. As such, part of this section has perhaps become quite superfluous but of course we have to talk about the sensor. I can be short here: the flawless 3360 sensor inside of the Model D performs as it should, which basically means that it’s flawless. As I said in my intro the Model D comes in a bigger box due to the fact that they’ve now allocated extra space for the cable so that there are no more issues with kinked cables out of the box. The scroll wheel in this model, as with other Glorious mice, has a notched scroll style and doesn’t feature inputs by nudging it to either side. It proved well-suited to shooters too. In these games, you want clearly defined scroll inputs for changing weapons or zoom levels but don’t want to accidentally fire off your special with a heavy-handed nudge. Just when you thought the Glorious Model D Gaming Mouse couldn’t get any better, a wireless model appears! Connecting via 2.4GHz wireless with a 5m range, the Glorious Model D Wireless Optical Gaming Mouse has the lowest latency amongst top-tier mice. Utilising the latest technology, this gaming mouse won’t drop connection so you can confidently game. What’s more, with its 71-hour battery life you can game for longer between charges. When it does drop low, simply plug in the provided USB charging cable and continue to play.Glorious has built a lightweight program in the Model D Software to match its lightweight mouse. It offers the essential tweaks in a small footprint (under 5MB) install with an easy-to-use user interface (UI). Unfortunately, it didn’t work out of the box. As with many mice, there’s a touch of post travel, but this is something that happens with a lot of mice and it’s well within acceptable tolerances. Unfortunately, the indicator light that alerts you to what CPI setting you’re using is on the mouse’s underside. This can be a real pain if you like to switch between two settings for assault rifles and sniper rifles, for example, or keep a super-low DPI for railgunning in Quake. You can get around this by setting all six steps available to one of two values. The Model D Wirelessis a medium-large sized ergonomic mouse that comes in at an impressive weight of just 69 grams. For a wired mouse that wouldn’t be considered impressive anymore in this day and age, but for a wireless mouse of this size I would definitely say that this is an impressive feat. Glorious is a pretty new company all things considered but they are definitely showing that they know how to handle things.

I tested the Model D Wirelessover the course of a few weeks and I’ve also given it the usual ‘stress tests’ and it came out just fine. Contrary to what you could find on some of the brand’s older models, there’s now no flexing or creaking, making for a mouse that feels well built. The mouse is also dead silent when shaking or tapping it. Their promise of tightening their quality control process doesn’t seem to be an empty promise. There are three RGB zones on the Model D-: along each side and on the scroll wheel. Are all customizable via Glorious’ own software (more on that later). These RGB zones are pin-sharp. When I first plugged in the mouse, a rainbow effect took over by default. It was genuinely impressive how many individual regions there were along those bands of RGB. The Glorious Model D Wirelessis, on its own, perhaps not a very groundbreaking release in today’s market. We have lightweight wireless mice, and we have a lot of lightweight ergonomic mice. What’s important here is the price, however. The Model D Wirelesscomes in at a much friendlier price point than similar mice from (well-known) competitors, giving it a leg up over those competitors. Both side buttons actuate with a tactile feeling and there’s almost none of that typical ‘side button mushiness’ present. There is a bit of a pivoting issue: the center part of the side button has virtually no post travel whereas the further out from the center you push, the more post travel becomes apparent. The buttons never travel inside the shell though (unless you apply a whole lot of force and you press them at their very edge) and even then the travel stays limited so as far as I’m concerned these side buttons are perfectly up to par. What’s also included are two additional larger feet that allow you to customize the glide area of the mouse. These do not drastically change the overall speed or smoothness of the glide but if you prefer larger skates over smaller ones (like I do) then they’re a handy addition to have.

Passionate about mice? We're growing and looking to hire a full-time Staff Writers to work on mice and other computer products remote, or at our lab in Montreal. The Model D uses Glorious’ BAMF sensor. That one’s based on the 3370 and was created in collaboration with PixArt, and from my testing I can’t find anything wrong with it. There were some sensor issues when the BAMF was first implemented in the Model O Wirelessbut those have since been fixed with a firmware update and it seems like they got it right from the start this time.
