About this deal

Canon Eos 200D DSLR Camera has extraordinary 24.2-megapixel with 100-25600 auto & 100-25600 in whole stop increments ISO for the rich image with detail & color. This compact and simple but versatile structure has shutter speed of 30-1/4000 sec and DIGIC 7 processor that ensure low light photography. Its 7.7 cm (3.0") Vari angle LCD 1040 K sRGB dots touchscreen has 170° viewing angle that rotates with the motion of the camera. This world’s lightest DSLR with approximate weight of 453g makes it portable and user friendly. It can generate world’s fastest live view focusing with Dual Pixel CMOS AF and portrait photos in shallow depth of field by large APS-C sensor. In addition, it has EF/EF-S lens mount, Red-Eye reduction lamp, built-in flash and rechargeable li-ion battery. Whatever type of photography shall you prefer, Canon EOS 200D is superior to Canon EOS 2000D in all conditions. The 200D uses the same sensor and DIGIC 7 processor as the Canon EOS 800D so it’s no surprise that their image quality and performance are hard to separate. The 200D captured a shot every 0.3 seconds when using the viewfinder, and between 0.3 and 0.9 seconds in live view mode. Up on the top plate the on/off switch is now separated from the mode dial, making it slightly less awkward to operate with your thumb. Pushing the switch beyond its on/off settings engages video mode. The mode dial has been simplified and the PASM manual modes are clearly marked from the automatic modes.

Technically speaking, Canon EOS 200D is superior to Canon EOS 2000D, with an overall iCamRank score of 58 and 50, respectively. Another sharp, vibrant exposure, but the 1/50s shutter speed is too slow to freeze the motion in the water (1/50s, f/5.6, ISO 100, 32mm equivalent) With plenty of detail and nicely controlled noise from its 24-megapixel sensor, image quality was good, too. In fact, it’s on par with cropped-sensor SLRs costing much more. Nikon has a slight advantage for low noise at fast ISO speeds, though. On top of the camera is a hotshoe for mounting an optional Speedlite flashguns or external microphones. I tried vlogging with the 200D / SL2 with a Rode VideoMic Pro shotgun microphone connected to the mic input on the side. The combination worked well, and with the microphone connected, there was only a tiny obstruction with the screen flipped out to face you. See the movie mode section later in the review for more details. With the camera set to Movies and the mode dial turned to SCN, the 200D / SL2 enters its HDR movie mode. This halves the maximum frame rate to 25p or 30p for PAL or NTSC regions, allowing it to effectively capture two different exposures for every frame and combine them into one. This allows the 200D / SL2 to prevent clipping at one end of the tonal scale and Canon’s decided to go for protecting the highlights. The effect was subtle on my tests, but generally speaking the HDR movie mode can help retain some tonal detail in bright highlights that would otherwise become irretrievably washed out on a normal clip. Michael can manual focus his lens and look through the viewfinder and see his results while the power is off. They’re not too shoddy in this dimly lit scene, either. There’s a fair amount of noise but it’s a solid result considering the ISO 16000 setting (1/60s, f/5, ISO 16000, 62mm equivalent) Canon EOS 200D review: Verdict

Just about everything in that list is Canon's latest and greatest, and the external microphone input is a nice extra. The one feature that's not new is the 9-point autofocus system that you'll use when shooting through the viewfinder – it's identical to what's found the original SL1, which is over four years old. You'll get a much better focusing experience by shooting in live view, which uses Canon's excellent Dual Pixel AF technology. Compared to... As an EOS DSLR, the 200D / SL2 features a standard EF lens mount with native compatibility with the entire Canon EF lens catalogue, including EF-S models designed for its smaller APS-C sensor. This is the key benefit of the EOS 200D / Rebel SL2 over rival formats, especially youthful mirrorless ones: native access to over 80 lenses from the enormous Canon catalogue without the need for an adapter or compromised AF performance. I should also add that some of the budget lenses are much more affordable than mirrorless alternatives, in particular models like the EF 50mm f1.8. See my Canon lens guide for the lenses I recommend. The Live View button is within easy reach of your right thumb. A grid line display and very useful live histogram can be enabled to help with composition and exposure, and you can zoom in by up to 10x magnification of the image displayed on the LCD screen. Focusing in Live View via a half-press of the shutter release as normal. During Live View recording you can also use the touch-sensitive screen to change AF point, and to fire off the shutter release if you want to. This setup can be particularly useful for macro and still life shoots, where you’re using the camera on a tripod and don’t want to look through the viewfinder.Michael can manually zoom his lens and look through the viewfinder and see the refults while the power is off. Take complete creative control of your images with PIXMA and imagePROGRAF PRO professional photo printers. MP4 (Video: H.264 inter frame, Sound: Linear PCM / AAC, recording level can be manually adjusted by user) Turning to metering and exposure, this is looked after by a 63-zone dual-layer metering sensor. Exposure can be refined using the exposure-compensation system, which offers 1/3 stop or 1/2 stop increment adjustment over a +/-5EV range. Like most modern DSLRs, the EOS 200D / Rebel SL2 is equipped with two different autofocus systems depending on whether you’re shooting with the traditional optical viewfinder or with the screen in Live View. There’s pros and cons to both systems, but overall the Live View experience is superior in almost every respect.

Canon’s EOS 200D, or Rebel SL2 as it’s known in North America, is a compact DSLR aimed at photographers buying their first interchangeable lens camera. Announced in June 2017, it replaces the four-year-old EOS 100D / SL1, and like that model offers a more sophisticated point-of-entry than the cheapest DSLRs and a smaller body to boot. The Canon EOS 200D has 2 different JPEG file quality settings available, including Fine and Normal, with Fine being the higher quality option. Here are two 100% crops which show the quality of the two options. Fine (5.87Mb) (100% Crop)
