You can extend the shelf life by adding 1% dehydroacetic acid and benzyl alcohol or reducing the pH below 5. Rosewater with a strong smell of roses is made by adding rose ark (fragrance) to water rather than steam distillation.
Steenbergs Organic Rose Water is made through a simple water extraction of classic Persian Damask Rose blossom. The ingredients list should read either 100% rose water, 100% rose hydrosol or water and rose petals. Rose petals in water are exposed to controlled heat, and steam is condensed in the form of water droplets that are collected as rose water. But unfortunately, many popular brands of rose water (especially in India) have chemicals in the form of preservatives or additives.
