The original 2007 version starts warm and resinous with galbanum, a citrusy hint of tangerine and soapy orange blossom and a nutty hint of pistachio. The fresh, fragrant iris soon takes over but is toned down by vetiver and tinted a little darker by cedar. Benzoin resin and incense round off the whole thing with a balsamic-sacral finish. The sillage is relatively persistent. It is suitable for both day and night. Mind you, it is completely different than “le Male”, however the reactions it provokes are the same.

I wouldn’t recommend this to the “average” guy (as it takes a certain look, style, and mindset to confidently pull this off), but if you’re on the cutting edge of fashion, a bit more adventurous, and (dare I say) avant-garde this smell will compliment your whole ensemble. The only negative thing about this scent is that, like other people have noted, it doesn’t linger for long. It lasts longer on clothes than skin and needs to be reapplied throughout an evening.

With its lovely floral and typically powdery scent, it takes over the entire olfactory from the heart note. So you'd have to have a definite soft spot for powdery floral scents to like Infusion d'Iris. It is important to pay attention to the edition when buying Infusion d'Iris has been appearing since 2015 to be on the market in a new, slightly less powerful, and less balsamic formulation.
