About this deal

Dry Edition is a dry sparkling wine, produced through a natural fermentation process. It is characterised by a fresh and pleasing perfume and a slightly fruity, balanced and enjoyable flavour. Robust, sweet with primary savours of sugarcane, they reflect the generous climate of Southern Martinique and its unique terroir. Cinzano Asti D.O.C.G. is the most renowned of all the Cinzano sparkling wines. It is produced using white Moscato grapes from the D.O.C.G. area of Asti, in the heart of Piedmont. It possesses a sweet and fruity flavour.

Add a bit of zing: Using spices is optional. It’s not traditionally used when making rum punch, but try it and see if you like it. Sainsbury's Superior Dark Rum (Gold medal winner in the Rum category at the 2010 International Wine and Spirit Awards [6]) Jamaican rum punch is a fruity drink with a rum base. This tropical rum is popular among tourists and Jamaicans alike. J. Wray and Nephew Ltd. is a distiller, blender, and bottler of rum, originating and operating in Jamaica. It is said that 90% of rum sales in Jamaica are of this famous brand, used in Jamaican rum punches, Mai Tais and daiquiris. [5] The infamous Wray and Nephew White Overproof rum has been available in the UK via Tesco for some years now. I imagine this is due to its huge popularity in Jamaica where it counts for 90% of all rum sales. Created by Angelo Dalle Molle, a Venetian entrepreneur and philanthropist, Cynar was launched in Italy in 1952. Since then, the brand has grown and is now distributed internationally. In Jamaica, ghosts, spirits, and other supernatural beings are collectively referred to as duppies. Rolling Calf and Old Higue are two of the more notorious duppies that are said to haunt people at night all across Jamaica. To keep the duppies at bay, Jamaicans often sprinkle White Overproof rum over the foundations of new houses as their being built. In existence for over three centuries, Trois Rivières sugarcane plantation is an integral part of Martinique’s heritage. The saga starts in 1660 when Nicolas Fouquet, superintendent of finances to King Louis XIV, acquires land in Martinique with the intention of building the largest kingdom of the French Caribbean.

Born in Martinique in the Lesser Antilles in the eastern Caribbean Sea, Trois Rivières’ Rhum Agricole is distilled from freshly squeezed sugarcane juice. Despite this I wouldn’t really look to drink this on its own (even with water) it’s not bad but its youth means it still has a lot of rough edges and has a little bit too much burn to really enjoy as a sipper. Sweet Edition is sweet, light and fizzy sparkling wine that is obtained from the noblest grapes, from selected vineyards within Italy. Then, company founder John Wray opened The Shakespeare Tavern in Kingston. In 1860 Wray brought in his nephew, Charles James Ward, to run the business side of the company. Thus the name Wray & Nephew. Jamaican to the bone At 126 proof (63% alcohol by volume), it’s also damn strong. And that high proof makes it quite popular in frozen drinks, rum punches, and other mixers. Good for ghosts? The history of J. Wray and Nephew began in 1825 when company founder John Wray opened 'The Shakespeare Tavern' in Kingston, Jamaica. Kingston grew steadily and eventually became Jamaica's capital in 1877, and The Shakespeare Tavern became highly successful. This easy-to-make rum punch is made with simple ingredients; fruit punch, pineapple juice, lime and of course the rum! And if you want to spice up your rum punch, add a pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon.

It is good to leave the rum punch to sit for a while before serving. So you can make the rum punch an hour or two before the party starts. But remember not to add ice! Can Rum Punch Get You Drunk? In 1860 Wray brought in Charles James Ward, the son of his brother, to run the business side of the company. Ward was a dynamic and gifted entrepreneur, and under his leadership J. Wray and Nephew began a period of growth and prosperity. Wray retired in 1862 and died in 1870 leaving Ward as the sole proprietor of the business. [1] I’ve read that Jamaicans prefer the white overproof over dark rums because there’s a sense that it’s somehow purer. And therefore, better for their health. And that belief certainly translates into sales. As it’s estimated that Wray and Nephew accounts for 90% of all rum sold in Jamaica! Wray and Nephew White Overproof Rum W&N is predominantly a mixing rum. I wouldn’t really look to sip a white rum at the best of times and I’m certainly not going to start with 63% firewater! You can add water to this rum if you wish to try this rum without a mixer. It’s often useful to do so just to explore the spirit. It’s certainly useful from the point of a reviewer as it enables me to identify some of the nuances and flavours. Our aged rums are matured for a minimum of 3 years and up to 20 years in oak casks of various origins: new French casks, former Cognac casks from France and former Bourbon casks from the US.
