Areas affected by mould, algae or fungi should be treated with an appropriate fungicidal wash. Metal surfaces: Remove rust using Hammerite Rust Remover. On new galvanized surfaces, allow to weather for six months before application. New bare wood: To ensure 6 year weather protection is achieved, prepare bare wood with Weathershield Exterior Preservative Primer+ (BP), wiping off any excess. Surface defects should be repaired using the appropriate Polycell product. uPVC: Apply direct to clean substrate. The drying time is similar to the recoat time. It's 4hours for both Weatheshield All Weather Protection & Ultimate Protection. Yes, Weathershield products are micro-porous and breathable, allowing moisture and air to be released. However, they aren’t suitable for lime render (please see below).

What is the difference between Weathershield All Weather Protection and Weathershield Ultimate Protection Masonry Paints? We wouldn’t recommend it. Lime render needs paint that allows a completely free passage of water vapour and has low tension as it dries. Lime render is quite friable, and needs specific paint, such as a mineral silicate one. Try specialist company Keim, which has a range of mineral paints for use inside and out.What is the drying time for Weathershield All Weather Protection and Weathershield Ultimate Protection? We know your home is precious to you, so it’s natural that you want to protect it. With Dulux Weathershield Masonry, you’re not only protecting the outside of your house, you’re taking care of what’s inside it, too. This will depend on the product. Weathershield Smooth Masonry paint is available in 19 shades, whereas Weathershield Textured Masonry paint comes in 6 shades. Application: Brush, roller, airless spray,conventional spray. STIR THOROUGHLY BEFORE USE. Seal all new or bare surfaces with a thinned coat of Weathershield Smooth Masonry Paint (up to 1 part clean water to 5 parts paint). The normal finishing process is 2 full coats of Weathershield Smooth Masonry Paint, but on previously painted surfaces in good condition, where similar colours are used, 1 coat may be sufficient. In normal conditions two coats of Weathershield Smooth Masonry Paint properly applied to the substrate in accordance with the instructions will perform satisfactorily for up to 15 years giving good colour stability (as part of BBA certificate 97/3383). See current colour collateral for choice of colours. Application- Apply 1 or 2 coats with a brush. TIP: it is advisable to only use light colours on south facing resinous wood. Apply only in dry conditions, above 10°C and when bad weather is not forecast. Our Weathershield range isn’t available in matt or eggshell. Weathershield Masonry is available in Smooth or Textured finish, and our exterior paint comes in gloss, high gloss and satin finish. Weathershield Ultimate Protection is a superior offering to Weathershield All Weather Protection, thanks to its Alkali Guard technology: Seals, Primes & Strengthens. Again, this will vary depending on which Weathershield product you use. Weathershield All Weather Smooth Masonry paint typically provides coverage of 15m2/L, compared to 9m2/L coverage for Weathershield All Weather Textured Masonry paint. Weathershield Ultimate Protection Smooth Masonry paint provides coverage of 12m2/L.
