About this deal

Appropriate pain control is recommended together with the continuation of good oral hygiene, as tolerated

Chlorhexidine gluconate 0.2% mouthwash ('Corsodyl') is recommended for oral hygiene in patients that are particularly at risk of infection (e.g. neutropenia). 10mL should be used to rinse the mouth twice daily (for about 1 minute). Patients should be advised that it might cause reversible brown staining of teeth. Topical preparation is useful if applied to early onset of cold sores, which often reactivate during chemotherapy but should only be used with systemic treatment. Treatment usually continues up to 2-3 weeks post radiotherapy or chemotherapy (or combined therapy) or until mucositis has healed SFH information: From 11th March 2019 will no longer be supplied from Pharmacy.
