About this deal

Indeed, if you strip away all of that classic, nostalgic fortification fans have cast upon the rightly beloved original over the last few decades, this is comfortably the better film, and even if it may take a little longer achieve that same untouchable classic status as its forebear (its staggering Box Office landmarks have arguably given it a head-start), it'll proudly sit alongside it as an organic continuation that - much like its star - defies the lengthy passage of time to provide a perfect companion-piece to the original.

Things become more complicated still when Maverick learns that one of the pilots he’s meant to train is a young lieutenant named Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw (Miles Teller), the son of his best friend and former F-14 RIO “Goose,” who died years earlier in a training accident while Maverick was at the controls. With an identical set of bonuses joined by a pair of new featurettes, the overall UHD package is recommended. While Tony Scott’s 1986 film was ground-breaking for its day, using actual Navy pilots and F-14s, the actors were always firmly on the ground, filmed in simulated cockpits with tight framing.A Love Letter To Aviation—Tom Cruise shares his passion for aviation as he pilots his own aircraft, a vintage World War II P-51 Mustang, which would have been the Top Gun aircraft of its day. All the while, a thunderous, authoritative low-end provides a robust, wall-rattling impact to every explosion and boom, digging as low as 10Hz and 12Hz on several occasions ( bass chart). Ed Harris's Rear Admiral vehemently announces that fighter pilots like Maverick are relics, outdated tools of the past that have no place in the present-day forms of aerial combat, and drones are the real future.

With one exclusive featurette making up for the rather disappointingly small supplemental package, the massive box-office hit is nonetheless the Must Own UHD package of the year.Halfway into it, just when we can't stand to be around the guy anymore, it seems even Maverick is starting to annoy himself. The possible reason for why it is more apparent now is due to the higher resolution levels and our relative distance to the character as he speaks; we can better now see James Tolkan's lip movement than in previous video editions. That same year, Maggie joined as a co-host on the Star Wars podcast ‘Outer Rim Beacon,’ and has appeared as a guest on numerous Star Wars podcasts and other pop culture podcasts. Thanks to the rather unusual cooperation of the US Navy, it's the only film in pretty much the history of cinema to successfully use footage of real-life aircraft in constructing an action-drama spectacle of tense dogfights and air-to-air combat. Let’s hope you like him, because he’s been a fixture of cinema since the 80’s and since he doesn’t appear to age, it’s likely he won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

The extras include a quartet of 5-10 minute Featurettes - Cleared for Take-Off, which looks predominantly at the training (Cruise-led) to be flight-ready; Breaking New Ground - Filming Top Gun: Maverick, which looks at the technological marvels required to capture the aerial footage; A Love Letter to Aviation, which focusses on Cruise's personal love for flying; and Forging the Darkstar, which looks at how they staged this sequence. All the while, vocals remain well-prioritized with outstanding intonation in the more emotionally-driven moments.Of course it's the aerial footage that will define the movie for pretty much everybody who sees it - Top Gun fan or not. Flying at 10Gs, the unexpected sequel hits its target on Ultra HD with stunning results, striking screens with a breathtaking, reference-quality HEVC H.
