About this deal

Come Play With Me (1980): stage farce loosely based on the film, starring Bob Grant from On the Buses. Come Play With Me was filmed during the autumn of 1976. Bovington Manor was in reality the Weston Manor Hotel, near Oxford. Owing to work commitments, Suzy Mandel was absent from the scene that introduces the girls travelling to Bovington Manor onboard a coach (she was taping a Benny Hill episode at the time). From her quiet childhood in Surrey, through to her accidental introduction to hardcore pornography, her subsequent superstar notoriety, and her tragic death at the age of just 33 in 1979, Mary Millington's life story is both moving and surprising. At the height of her popularity in the late 1970s she starred in the comedy film Come Play With Me, which still holds the record for the longest running single theatrical run in British cinema history. With fame came controversy - Mary allegedly had affairs with PM Harold Wilson and Diana Dors; she became a high class call-girl to the rich and famous and was unsuccessfully tried for obscenity at the Old Bailey in 1977. Written with the full co-operation of her friends and family, Come Play With Me provides the truth behind the myth of Mary Millington. In April 1997, Medusa Pictures released the film on VHS as part of their "X-Films of the Saucy 70s" series (the first release to put the film into a retro/historic context).
