About this deal

A lightweight and powerful, rechargeable headlamp, with 3 light settings, and an impressive 600 lumens of power in a torch that weighs less than 100 grams. Petzl says: I hate the feeling of not knowing how discharged my batteries are, but with a rechargeable ‘Core’ battery I can keep my head torch 100% topped up and ready to go. The quality of this headlamp is no different from what you'd expect from Petzl, they have long offered some of the best headlamps on the market, and this model is no different.

Olight Perun 2: A robust and versatile flashlight that can be used in a multitude of situations thanks to it's three mounting options including occasionally being worn as a headlamp. It takes a whopping 4 x AAA batteries, so we'd recommend getting yourself a charger and some rechargeable batteries to keep long-term costs down. It has a useful battery life indicator (green 100%-50%, yellow 50%-25% and red 25%- 0%) so you don't get caught out. The Actik is compact and lightweight at 88 grams, so the headband has been kept simple. The headband is comfortable, reasonably stable, adjustable, washable, and removable. Replacement bands are available for when it starts to look old and worn out. Casting 600 lumens, Actik Core provides powerful and comfortable lighting to go with you when you're running, trekking, mountaineering or travelling. In keeping with its flashlight design, the Olight Perun 2 is the brightest light on our list at an impressive 2500 lumens. However, this is extremely bright and may be overkill for your purposes. High-performance lighting in dynamic outdoor activities: proximity or distance vision and rapid movement I would have liked to have seen a setting for an even narrower, more focused, beam, but as is it is hard to fault the Actik Core too much. The bottom line is that it is incredibly bright, even on the lower settings, delivering plenty of light when and where you need it most. Three white lighting levels: MAX BURN TIME, STANDARD (better power/burn time balance) and MAX POWER Lighting performance with 3 AAA / LR6 batteries Lighting performance as defined by the ANSI/PLATO FL 1 protocol

WARNING: This lamp is not certified for road use: when used in an area governed by traffic regulations, Petzl lights are not a substitute for required standardized lights. BioLite Headlamp 425: A comfortable no-bounce headlamp that's incredibly lightweight. The rear red beam is an unusual feature, handy for group situations. In a festival environment, we used the max brightness mode to find our way across the field to the portaloos and the standard beam to do the camp cooking. We used the dimmest mode to sort out our messy tent after dusk, and the red light while chatting and socializing. It's perfect for all scenarios, except one. The Petzl Actik Core has a water resistance rating of IP X4. This means it is acceptable for light rain but should you find yourself out in a storm with lots of driving rain, you'd probably want to put it away, and it definitely isn't submersible. Petzl ACTIK CORE 450: FunctionalityThere’s just one button on top, so the function is simple and intuitive and because it's a good sized button you can operate it whilst wearing gloves. Durable, comfortable, and versatile, the Petzl Actik Core is a fantastic headlamp for use in just about any activity. We appreciate its bright lamp and rechargeable batteries, which should be standard on just about every high-end headlamp these days. This model features Petzl’s trademark reliability and great build-quality too, making it easy to recommend to anyone shopping for a new light source for use in the outdoors. We found that the electronic tilt function wasn't as effective as other manual options, but it does come with a useful battery indicator and will also automatically drop the light output down when it's running low on power to ensure you have enough to get you home. This is a super useful feature if you're planning to use it for long stargazing trips at night. With a red light for astro and four brightness settings, we would definitely recommend this headlamp if you like the silicone-based design. The new 600 lumen Petzl Actik Core is a powerful, rechargeable, and easy-to-use headlamp with white and red lighting.

The headband is very stretchy and can be worn for prolonged periods of time without it causing any irritation.Compatible with the HELMET ADAPT and BIKE ADAPT 2 mounts, so you can attach the lamp to a variety of helmet types or a bicycle (1) The Petzl Actik Core 450 is a bright, well-built and versatile headlamp that comes from a highly reputable brand. They offer a two-year (or 300 charges) battery warranty and a five-year lamp warranty on this product, so you can be sure you're making a safe investment. In our Petzl Actik Core 450 review we were so impressed by this headlamp that we awarded it four and a half stars, with only half a star missing for the Micro-USB charge port; we'd prefer USB-C. As we've already mentioned, you can power it with either three AAA batteries or the included CORE rechargeable battery. The battery compartment sits behind the lamp and is simple to open with your fingers when it's time to recharge but secure enough that it won't pop open unnecessarily. You can use either three AAA batteries, or the Petzl Actik Core High-capacity 1250 mAh Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery. (Image credit: Tantse Walter) If you're looking for a more traditional headlamp design and you require a red light as well as a white light, then the Nitecore NU31 headlamp is the brightest option. It offers 550 lumens on Turbo mode whilst still maintaining a five-hour runtime thanks to its 1,800 mAh rechargeable battery. What makes a good headlamp?
