About this deal

That one simply has to be the kick off of the live shows this Autumn, but any of them could make the set and belong there. Upbeat in sound, melancholy in theme, more resounding in its Celtic rock assurgency as it bops along is ‘Cradle To The Grave’. Straddling their native Ireland and their adopted Wales, the quintet is proud of its origins and regularly lifts us off the ground to fly over the green rolling spaces of the British Isles. The new album has a harder rock edge than previous albums, whilst still retaining the atmospheric sound, and anthemic melodies that has become the band's signature trademark.

Tonight’s show is something very special and even though there were a lot of memories and respects paid, it’s with great joy that we remember the ones we’ve lost, including the late great Phil Lynott. Most notable has been the well-earned rise of guitarist Chris Buck, named in 2019 as ‘Best New Guitarist in the World’, who has forged a reputation as one of the most inventive and recognisable guitar players in music; winning plaudits from peers and the industry’s most iconic players alike. As change of pace again, Burns’ guitar evokes the sound of haunting bagpipes on the melancholy rocker , ‘I Always Will’. This entry was posted in ALBUM REVIEWS, ALBUM REVIEWS (Mobile), ALL POSTS, INTERVIEWS, Radio interview and tagged album, AOR, Dare, Darren Wharton, interview, melodic rock, radio, Vinny Burns. The Title track ‘Road to Eden’ though is something else – its simply beautiful and has a slight Gaelic leaning to it that just sets it off right. However, in line with official guidance/regulations, all 2020 show were halted from March 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Pocket Melodies takes you on a journey of glorious melodies leading you through love, romance, nostalgia, regret and unity. The UK leg was announced on 10 January and consisted of 12 headlining shows, kicking off in Leeds on 6 October and concluding in Newbury on 29 October.

Calm Before the Storm marked another change in style towards a mellower sound with Celtic influences. That's especially notable on I Always Will, though it's there to a greater or lesser degree on all four of those songs, surprising me to realise that there's a light/heavy line between Bryan Adams and Magnum. have (throughout the years) developed a certain style sounding more and more smooth and more and more direction AOR with some Celtic influences. The summation concludes, "there are no fillers here – 11 great tracks of keyboard and guitar framed music; this is a wonderful album that takes a step back from the Celtic influences of recent times and a huge step back towards straight ahead moody AOR".

This new discographic offering is therefore eagerly awaited, especially since the single 'Born In The Storm' is responsible for making us salivate. One or two songs more in that vein would have given ‘Road To Eden’ more body, as most of the songs are reasonably laid back, smooth and not really that much different from earlier work. There’s a suggestion that all of these are about the past, but this mid-paced rocker will probably transport anyone to whatever moment they choose.

What The World Needs Now… was self-funded by PiL and released on their own label ‘PiL Official’ via Cargo UK Distribution. If you have followed Dare since their beginning days in 1989 you will agree with me that Wharton and Co. Lydon’s love for his wife shines through like sunrays breaking through clouds, casting everything in a golden light: “I remember you,” he reassures her. We all have our own personal Eden in our hearts, that special dream, that place in life, where we hope someday our journey will take us. With previous DARE albums now having well over 4 million streams on Spotify, it's clear that for the growing army of DARE fans, the wait is nearly over, as they prepare to join DARE on The Road To Eden.

In addition, “Road To Eden” leaves you under the impression that the songs were written with the goal of being presented in a live circuit as they display a clear energetic and powerful feeling. THRASH - Between hardcore and death metal, Cage Fight is the fruit of the fierce collaboration between the former singer of Eths and the guitarist of TesseracT, furious, catchy, brutal and sharp. An initial track from the album (the lead track), "Born in the Storm", was announced at the same time. Wharton has since commented negatively about the change in style, stating that while he is "very proud of that album.Dare delivers an epic performance on “Born In The Storm” that’s deeply rooted in the classic rock tradition but still feels relevant and original. Additionally, on 17 June Darren and Vinny Burns and Nigel Clutterbuck did an evening of the very best of Dare, unplugged, at the Barnoldswick Music and Arts Center, and on Thursday 16th and Friday 17th November will repeat the show over two nights. The catch is that this album promptly softens up after those first four tracks and, while it remains good stuff throughout, I'm not going to praise the rest of it the way I've praised the four openers. The Celtic component of its music and the warm and slightly hoarse voice of Darren distinguish it immediately from the other formations of the genre. The other week I wrote that FM’s new one was the best album of its type that would be released this year.
