About this deal

One of the special things about Blue's Clues is that since there is No Fourth Wall the viewer themselves count as a character. The one who accompanies the host throughout all the episodes and is probably the most important character in the series along with Blue. Ambiguous Situation: As "The mystery of the Missing thinking chair" reveals that there are multiple Orange Kittens and Purple Kangaroo in the neighborhood this raises the question of whether the Orange Kitten and the purple Kangaroo in Blue's classroom right now are the same characters as in the original series (the fact that the purple kangaroo is a girl in the reboot doesn't help). Ty Expressive Ears: Seen noticeably in the reboot when he droops his ears while talking about his worries regarding fitting into the new neighborhood.

No Name Given: Because the character is intended to be an insertion of the children watching, they are typically referred to as "You" or "Kids" instead of a name. Magenta's owner, and one of Steve's only friends his age. She is one of the few other live-action characters on the show. She only appears in "Shy" and "Magenta Gets Glasses". Beautiful Singing Voice: Blue's Big Musical Movie' shows that she's a very talented singer (which becomes a major part of her personality from that point on), and several characters comment on it. Break the Cutie: Although it ends with a happy ending, Blue's Big City Adventure was probably not the most pleasant experience for Josh, he discovered his painfully self-conscious side, was Mistaken for Insane, got lost in the city and almost lost his job opportunity, causing him to enter a temporary depressive state, almost making him give up on his dream if Mr. Salt didn't intervene with his plan.Ambiguous Situation: Different from hosts both versions of her have the same name. It's unclear whether original Miranda and Miranda in the reboot were supposed to be the same character played by two different actresses, two different characters with the same name or an alternate version of the same character. Rainbow Puppy (voiced by Brianna Bryan) is a rainbow-colored dog who appears as Blue's new neighbor in Blue's Clues & You! She is a charismatic, confident puppy from the city. Even though Steve is an absent-minded detective, if you take his statement about needing a maximum of 5 clues to solve a mystery literally, it implies that he is better at his job than he lets on. All-Loving Hero: Blue appears to be virtually incapable of being hostile towards anyone, even when she is frustrated. She is kind, friendly, forgives others easily and always puts the happiness and comfort of her friends ahead of her own wants. Not Allowed to Grow Old: Downplayed. He doesn't look much different than he did when he was 10 but due to the change of voice actor his voice seems deeper in the reboot in in addition to the fact that he has dent marks create the impression that like the Hosts, he has gotten older over time.

Advertised Extra: Doesn't exactly have a role in Blue's Big City Adventure other than accompanying Mr. Salt with Slippery, but she appears in the films' promotional artwork more than Slippery does. Voice: Cameron Bowen (season 3), Kenny Kim (seasons 4–5), Jansen Panettiere (season 6), Victoria Pontecorvo ( Blue Takes You To School PC game), Luxton Handspiker (reboot)

Steve and Joe Grandmother

Intergenerational Friendship: Both are the oldest members of the entire household, having been the adults in charge of the household since the others were small children, and are always happy to participate in whatever adventures the others are taking part in. One of the episodes even reveals that Mr. Salt considered Mailbox ( who was 10 years old at the time) to be his best friend. The characters (minus Magenta, Periwinkle, and Rainbow Puppy) as they appear in Blue's Clues & You!.

Badass Adorable: His super persona, Villain Ice/Ice Spice, has powers that would be easily scary outside of a kids show setting, almost freezing the supercity and anyone in it, but he's still a lovely young boy with and without the uniform.Performance Anxiety: Despite being a fantastic musician, Josh has a crippling fear of singing in front of people he is unfamiliar with, which is an important point in the movie. Although he improved a little after realizing his dream, the fear did not completely disappear as seen in "Kamusta, Philippines!". Bubble Shield: As Super Soap when he is in the super city. Here Slippery expands his bubble-making ability to create tough shields.
