About this deal

That's a good question, and depending on who you ask the answers vary from "monthly" to "never". It really depends on where your PS5 is, so for example if you're in a room with lots of long fibres in carpeting, rugs and so on, or if it's a smoking household, or if you have pets, or if you're really lazy and don't do the normal hoovering and dusting very often, then you're going to want to clean your console more frequently than if you live in a Zen-like space with no furniture and Italian marble floors. And that's great, but unfortunately it also means that just like with PCs, over time you can end up with a case full of dust bunnies. That of course reduces the effectiveness of the fan, and can have an effect on your console's cooling and the noise it makes when it's running hard. While it is relatively easy to remove any dust from your PS5, preventing it from building up in the first place is a good idea. To this end Sony recommends keeping the console in a well-ventilated location, and not to operate in a closed cabinet or in a tightly enclosed space.

Grab an all-in-one PS5 tool kit and cleaning bundle or opt for individual screwdrivers, bits, openers, brushes, and soldering tools for your specific needs. If there are some dust deposits that just won't shift, you can use isopropyl alcohol with either a lint-free cloth or a cotton bud to wipe it clean. Normal maintenance doesn't require disassembly, especially if you clean the PS5 occasionally and follow some common-sense rules. It's time to get inside the machine and give the heatsink a good clean, and this will solve your overheating problem. When cleaning your PS5 it is important to only use the recommended products. Substituting any of the above products for others that you already have on hand can cause more harm than good to your console. It doesn’t matter if you have the digital or the standard version of PS5, you’ll need a can of compressed air, an adjustable vacuum, and a microfiber cloth. If you have a catastrophic accident, a simple cleaning may not be enough, and you might have to take your console out for repair because the hardware inside could be damaged as well as dirty.

Lift the corner of the top faceplate, the one with a PlayStation logo. Lift it with your plastic pry or your nails until it “unclips” from the case. Now, we’re going to clean the air intake from dust. This is where the air goes in and out of your console, so cleaning it is paramount. A good footrest is as important to comfort as the chair you sit in, and Secretlab’s Professional Footrest is ideal for home or office useFind the right spot. Avoid putting the console in tight-fitting spaces or on the floor. You can mitigate dust buildup if the PS5 is on a table or an open cabinet.

Sony's advice for fixing noisy PS5 fans is first of all, prevention: make sure there's at least 10cm of space around each side of the console, and don't place it on a carpet or rug with long fibres. And if you do have dusty vents, it recommends you use a low-powered vacuum cleaner to remove any dust that's accumulated in and around the air vents. Make sure your PS5 is disconnected from the power cable when you do this. The only thing you will have to remove from your PS5 console to clean it is the covers. These covers are intentionally easy to remove for cleaning and even customization purposes. Here’s how:I've made a video on how to get the cover off if you feel like it's gonna break - watch it here - https://www.cd24-7.co.uk/ps5-how-to-open-your-console Now, for the most important bit. you need to get your vacuum or brush INSIDE the console housing, into the hole vacated by the fan unit. For most of us, that's all you really need to do. But if you want to give your PS5 a deeper clean, here's how to do it. How to clean the inside of your PS5 Your PS5 most likely will have gathered a whole load of dust inside, especially up against the heatsink - which is responsible for keeping the Graphics Chip and other hardware cool. This causes the fan to increase in speed as the console attempts to combat the heat inside, and in turn creates a whole load of noise. PS5 cleaning instructions from Sony are the same for both the Standard and Digital Edition of the console. For cleaning the plastic covers of the PS5 and the DualSense Wireless Controller use a soft, dry cloth. For any ports on the console that have accumulated any dirt or dust, use a dry cloth to wipe away the buildup.

Pull up with force, and at the same time push to the right, and the lid will come off. Discard for now. Cleaning the PS5 is fast and easy and won’t damage anything. Sony’s design allows users to open the plate without tools and clean up the fan without touching anything else. Advanced users who are already out of their warranty period or would like to clean their systems regardless of any consequences can follow this teardown guide. The next step is taking out the PS5 plates. You require no tools, but if it becomes difficult, you may use a plastic pry or a spudger. While paper towels will work just fine for this, they can leave behind bits of fuzz or dust. If you want a truly shiny PS5, try using a lint-free cloth. The first thing you'll need to do is remove the faceplate from the console. You should be able to do that by pulling it away from the top of the console –you don't need to use a lot of strength here, it should just pop off nice and easily. Once you've done that, remove the stand and the faceplate from the bottom. Put them somewhere safe. If you decide to use anything similar to a tweezer to hold your fan in place, be extra careful not to drop it inside.
