The three instruction booklets – ranging from 50 to 80 pages – are packed neatly into a plastic bag, along with a cardboard plate so that the booklets don’t get beat up during transit. It may or may not be the best LEGO supercar ever released, but it's indisputable that you're getting a pretty sweet .

Two non-motorized functions (engine and steering) will also pass through the same area, making this section very dense. Some bits of the bodywork don’t quite align, the seats are too tilted, some of the bodywork holes are too pronounced, etc. Because of the battery box and spoiler mechanism, the rear of the vehicle is replete with poor color choice and worse gaps. While most TECHNIC sets are vehicles that use pieces to mimic real vehicles, such as engine pieces, suspension, pneumatic, and transmission pieces, the TECHNIC parts have been used by various other System themes as well as LEGO Mindstorms. It easily holds its own amongst the older cars, losing out only because it does not yet trigger any nostalgia. The only problem (as we had with the jet fighter) is that he does'nt want to break it down to build the alternate car.

The older models took a single input (wheels) and converted to a single output (engine) at either 4 (8880) or 6 (8448) ratios. It’s a great set to play with for a couple of weeks and to then dismantle and expand your collection with.Starting with the distribution transmission for the M-motor, you add the rear axle and chassis frame rails before moving on to booklet number 2 and all the other stuff.

The two parallel axles will be driven at the same rate by the motor, and the clutch gears will be used when engaged to drive the four motorized functions.Dual-wishbone independent suspension (a little bit too hard on the rear wheels, with decent travel all-around) is found on all wheels, with the front ones steered through a hand-of-god knob behind the cabin. All 4 of these functions use worm gears which means not only are they geared down significantly, but they stay in place wherever positioned. Use the built-in LEGO Power Functions to open the scissor doors, extend the rear spoiler and pop the hood to reveal the realistic V8 engine! Don’t ask me how many bags; they didn’t seem all that special and as such I threw them out moments after opening the set.
