Copying live site to localhost

Postby Mark » Thu Jan 02, 2014 4:04 pm

Hi all,

I've been running an old version of Magento, version 1.3.2.3 and am now looking to copy this over to localhost. I've got so far but am stuck so looking for some advice please.

I am using an older version of XAMPP so that it has the appropriate version of PHP. I've copied over the database etc and it will display the homepage no problem, however when I try and access a different page it doesn't work and comes up with:

Object not found!

The requested URL was not found on this server. The link on the referring page seems to be wrong or outdated. Please inform the author of that page about the error.

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.

There are few things to bear in mind here

Firstly - you need to run Magento locally by IP address if its an old version:

http://127.0.0.1/magento

Secondly, make sure you edit the URLs in the configuration table in the database
