About this deal

More adjustable & robust front pouch - in addition to mesh, now it's being made using also nylon so it compresses your items inside further and secures them more. They're also adjustable using compression straps now The separate sleeping bag compartment is big enough, and the sleeping pad straps are strong enough so it doesn’t hang annoyingly when you walk. It’s not sewn to the bag and can be detached if needed, so you can take it out and dry separated from the bag. Or if you just want to use the pouch for other stuff. This is another essential feature. Having a rain cover is absolutely crucial for most hiking or travel adventures and you should not set off without one ( OK granted, there are some places on earth where it never rains, but not many!). When we reviewed Stratos 36, we found it excels in ventilation and comfort, but compared to the Kestrel 38, it performs poorly in terms of convenience and gear capacity.

The Kestrel is also ready for winter duties with twin ice axe loops, an integrated and removable rain cover and multiple lashing points across the front that work well to secure crampons. Osprey’s lifetime warranty ( dubbed the All Mighty Guarantee!) is pretty unique in the industry and is definitely one of the best things about the Osprey brand.Superior external gear attachment capability since the lash tabs at the top now are expanded further so it can bear more stuff

During our product testing, we discovered that it features a side loophole mount, also known as “stow-on-the-go,” for attaching trekking poles. I personally found this feature to be quite handy. You also get sleeping pad straps at the base of the Kestrel 58 that, as the name suggest, are really useful for attaching bulky sleep mats, or they can be completely removed to reduce weight if not required. An adjustable sternum strap helps to equalize the load and features a built-in emergency whistle. And this year’s model is also more eco-friendly than ever. Osprey deserves credit for pursuing maximum sustainability and minimum environmental impact here. MaterialsYou also get sleeping pad straps at the base of the Kestrel 48 that, as the name suggest, are really useful for attaching bulky sleep mats, or they can be completely removed to reduce weight if not required. An adjustable sternum strap helps to equalize the load and features a built-in emergency whistle. This is also bolstered by the fact that the Exos 38 is more expensive and provides less weather protection, making the Kestrel 38 the ideal choice for hiking conditions of all types. Osprey Kestrel 38 vs Osprey Stratos 36 Ospreys Customers Service is also pretty awesome and the repair centres’ communication and turnaround times are very commendable. As a consequence, the larger and more wide Exos 38 may make travel around these areas more challenging.

However, what the Kestrel 38 has over the Exos 38 is its slimmer and more environmentally conscious design. What it is perfect for is one-day epic hikes, when you need a lot of gear or fear that you may need to sleep out there. It is for the weekend and the overnight trip, and also for trips up for a week. Or maybe an epic one-day hiking trip, when you need a lot of extra supplies and you are not sure if you are going to need to stay for the night too. With multiple capacities available from 38l to 68l, the superb Osprey Kestrel (for men) and Kyte (for women) let hikers choose which size they want based on the length of their expedition. We tried the 58l Kestrel on a four-day hiking and camping trip and were thoroughly impressed by its overall comfort and impressive range of technical features. The biggest compartment of the Osprey Kestrel 68 is of course the main compartment. This compartment is accessible from the top but also from the bottom and from the front. The top opening is large so getting my gear in – in different coloured dry bags – is easy. A cord with a pulling tab closes this entrance. The main compartment has a large red compression strap to take the pressure of the cord. The Kestrel has a large opening on the top. U-Zip suitcase openingYou can tell the Osprey Kestrel 38 was made with the weekend hiker and camper in mind, with a feature-rich design for outdoor use. Let the moisture out, but don't let the inside get wet: this water-repellent model is here to keep your things dry by preventing moisture from penetrating through its fabric while letting the water vapour that forms inside escape. With a waterproof cover, you'll be sure that your belongings will be safe from moisture in no time at all. For a Better World
