About this deal

This Scratch version of Getting Over It is developed by Griffpatch. This version is inspired by Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy. Platform

Climb it all the way through once, then choose a hold to “eliminate” and let the next climber attempt the problem without using the eliminated hold (or climb it again yourself if you’re playing alone). Suitability and number of players: All ages, but aimed at children; at least two, but a group is better. How to play: It is okay to substitute certain colors for others if necessary (red for pink, blue for turquoise, etc). 9. Boulder Tag (2+ players) One person is 'in'. They select a place with quite a few good holds. The other partner has to try to climb around then in circles while the person 'in' has to try to stop them by getting to the holds before they do. When the person goes for more than 10 seconds without changing a hand or foot they swap places. Sent In By: Dena, Nelson, NZ When will spring come?” You ask repeatedly while climbing the same routes and problems that were set in the gym three months ago.Just like the traditional game of Twister, but vertical rather than horizontal! It’s played indoors with lots of colourful holds that hopefully match the Twister colours of blue, red, yellow and green – if they don’t, you can always add coloured tags to any holds. One person spins the spinner (either from the game or a homemade version) and directs one or more climbers to follow the instructions: right hand green, for example. Then continue to do what the spinner dictates until each climber can’t go any further or falls off. Benefits

Blind fold a climber. Start to climb by feeling with hands and feet all around the wall. See who can get the furthest without falling. Improves awareness and sense of touch for feet and hands. Sent In By: Andrew, from Searcy Equipment Needed: Climbing shoes and chalk, plus on slips of paper write down a bunch of different climbing movements (at minimum 10) Here are some examples: right hand crimp, two-hand dyno, knee-bar, drop knee, gaston, left hand pinch, etc. Write as many as you’d like. Use specialized equipment to traverse dangerous trails and slopes like ice axes, carabiners, and lifelines. Similar to the popular board game. You can use the spinner board from the actual game or make your own. Write down on slips of paper: right hand, left hand, right foot, and left foot, then write the colors (and types for more of a challenge) of the holds on separate slips. One person is the “spinner.” Climbers start on similar but separate sections of wall. It works best on vertical walls that are filled in with many holds, but it can be done on steeper terrain for a much harder challenge. GameplayA great bouldering game that helps your endurance as you could be hanging on the wall for a while, especially if in a larger group, as well as creativity and flexibility, particularly if the next move for your foot is above your head! If the next person can’t complete the climb with the missing hold, then it goes to the next person in the group. If no one in the group can complete the climb without the missing hold, then the person who erased the mark must prove its possible. Keep playing and removing chalk marks from the problem until there is only 1 person left standing. Equipment Needed: Climbing Shoes and Chalk. Would probably also be easier to play in a less crowded gym area.

Meet Bill, the young aspiring uphill racer. He is about to embark on a journey through Climb Canyon that takes him to where no ride has ever been before. With little respect to the laws of physics, Bill will not rest until he has conquered the highest hills up on the moon! This game works best on a wall with a variety of colored holds or colorfully taped routes that are set close together. Just like the traditional playground game of ‘it’ or ‘tag’, you need one person to chase, and one or more to climb away from the chaser and try to avoid being caught. Once tagged, you become the chaser. Best done indoors on an easy section of the wall that others aren’t using as you don’t want to cross over their problems. Also take extra care if climbing underneath somebody (it’s not normally advised, but hard to avoid in this game) and don’t jump down. Benefit Some holds are “rest” holds, where you can hang on as long as you want while you survey the moves ahead, but most holds incorporate a time limit. You can only hold on for so long before your climber falls. Suitability and number of players: All ages and abilities (but best played with people of a similar standard); either on your own, in pairs or a small group. How to play Your climber is controlled either via virtual buttons or swiping, and each side of the screen controls a different half of your body. Swipe on the left and your climber will move their legs. Swipe on the right and they’ll move their arms. Each limb must be moved individually. You’ll need to move your left hand up to grab a hold, then move your right hand up, then your left foot… and so on.
