About this deal

Plastic Miniatures (1 x AT-RT, 2 x Speeder Bikes, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, 14 Rebels, 14 Imperials) Beyond his skills as a warrior, Kenobi is also a leader to the clone troopers under his command. As a commander, he holds great influence over your army, of course, and has plenty of ways to impact the tactics you employ in battle. He can, for example, use his mastery of the Force

Star Wars: Legion is a tabletop miniatures wargame where players build, paint, and outfit entire armies. Up until now, the game has taken place during the events of the original trilogy, covering the battle between the Empire and the Rebellion. But this new core box is set during the events of the prequel trilogy (as the title suggests, the Clone Wars). This two-player Core Set contains everything players need to get started with basic battles, but waves of expansions have since followed its release, allowing players to create full armies. General Kenobi leads a fighting unit of Republic Clone Troopers in Star Wars: Legion. Clones and Droids, The Tools Of War Alex Davy: Yeah! Of course, the prequels are rich for the meme content, and there are very famous lines that he says, so we kind of cheekily referenced that a little. However, that’s not to say it wasn’t fun. It was fun, for the most part. Even when it wasn’t fun, even when the battle droid arms didn’t stay in the position I wanted them to, even when I was assembling the 4th module of the same 9-piece battle droid, it was still incredibly fun and satisfying at the end, knowing that I had built (though imperfectly) all 39 figures. There’s a greater sense of ownership here than with even my beloved Imperial Assault miniatures, many of which I’ve painted. All 35 miniature sculpts… and you need assemble every one of them! Pretty much everything you need to play is contained on the unit cards and upgrade cards that you have in front of you; the dice are a simplified mechanic with special symbols on them. The core rules of the game are relatively simple, all in the spirit of greater accessibility. In Star Wars: Legion, a two-player game, you’re in command of an army from a landmark era of Star Wars. On your turn you’ll move miniatures of troopers, vehicles, and heroes and villains to complete objectives on the battlefield and defeat your opponent. A roll of the dice determines your successes or failures in battle.

A More Civilized Age

Any item not in its original condition, is damaged or missing parts for reasons not due to our error There are so many other characters, too. Coming up we’ll have Captain Rex, and we’ll also have Count Dooku for the Separatists. Those guys will be fun. Enter a new era of battle in the Star Wars universe. The Republic’s Clone Troopers face off against the Separatist droid army in this core set. Obi-Wan and General Grevious are also included, along with all the cards, tools and tokens you need to begin your own battles in this massive universe. You can mix this core set in with other expansions and core sets, but this set can also be played on its own. As skilled as he is, Kenobi may have met his match in General Grievous. Proudly wielding the trophy lightsabers he has collected from the Jedi he has defeated in battle, Grievous is a particularly dangerous opponent, his agility making him equally adept at avoiding damage as he is at doling it out. Within this Core Set, you’ll find one beautifully detailed General Grievous miniature that can be assembled in three different ways: with two of his trophy lightsabers and a cloak; carrying a single lightsaber and a DT-57 “Annihilator” blaster pistol while shrouded in his cloak; or with all four trophy lightsabers at the ready. Legions takes this intergalactic war to the surface as you pit the rebel scum against the Empire! Of course Star Wars is full of vehicles that don’t fly around space and Legions allows you mess around in AT-AT, AT-ST and SATs exams. (Maybe not the last one).

Obi-Wan Kenobi and General Grievous each pose with light sabres at the ready, prepared to lead their troops into battle and show off their skills in combat. Both these miniatures are exclusive to the Clone Wars Core Set. To begin building your Separatist armies, you’ll find eighteen unpainted, finely detailed B1 Battle Droid miniatures, enough for two corps units. Ready to support them on the battlefield are four Droideka miniatures representing these destructive droids in both their standard and wheel mode forms. When TechRaptor’s Tabletop Editor Adam Potts first reviewed the original Star Wars: Legion core set, he explained the hobby aspect of the game as such: War has engulfed the galaxy. The vast forces of the Separatist Alliance, bolstered by seemingly endless ranks of battle droids, have pushed the Galactic Republic to the brink of dissolution and defeat. The Republic’s only hope is its army of elite clone troopers, led into battle by noble, Force-wielding Jedi Knights. The war between them is an epic struggle where every battle could turn the tide and change the fate of the galaxy. You can immerse yourself in this epic conflict, assembling your forces and leading them against your opponents in the legendary ground battles of Star Wars™ with the Clone Wars Core Set for Star Wars™: Legion! Two squads of B1 Battle Droids are ready to crush any resistance with sheer weight of numbers. Seven are armed with E-5 blaster rifles, while two heavy weapons specialists bring either an E-5C blaster rifle or an E-60R missile launcher. StarWars.com: Star Wars: Legion appeals to both established wargamers and Star Wars fans. What advice would you give Star Wars fans who have never played a tabletop game like this before? Despite these shortcomings as a box set, Star Wars Legion remains an engrossing and fluid experience, whether you’re a fan of the films or a wargamer interested in different approaches to the genre.

Movement in Star Wars: Legion is fast and organic as you send your troopers marching forward. Every unit has a speed which determines the jointed movement tool that you’ll use to move that unit. You simply align the movement tool with the base of the unit leader and move it to the end of the movement tool. To begin, the 2 opposing players will build their army for the battle. The Clone Wars Core Set includes a super-basic intro battle (highly recommended as your first play), and enough points for each player to build a 425-ish force. For reference, Legion suggests 2 official battle types: skirmish (500-point armies, played on a 3x3ft map where roughly a third of the map is covered in terrain) and standard (800-point armies, played on a 3x6ft map where roughly a quarter of the map is covered in terrain). On that note, let’s get into the gameplay, and I will try not to let my feelings towards my plastic babies interfere with my judgment as a board gamer. ReviewOne unit of two Droidekas is ready to speed into battle in wheel mode. Once there, the wheel mode miniatures can be replaced by two Droideka miniatures ready to lay down heavy fire on targets the B1 Battle Droids cannot take care of. Whilst the game can be played straight out of the box there is also an optional hobby side of the game! A fully painted army of miniatures is one of the most thrilling sights in gaming, and even if you don’t have a history with miniatures painting, it’s easy to get started. StarWars.com: Can you mix and match factions and heroes between the Core Sets? (For example, Luke Skywalker taking on Grievous and battle droids?) Ultimately, Star Wars: Legion is more than just a game—it’s an invitation to create an army that only you could have built, gathering troopers, vehicles, and iconic characters from the Star Wars saga and pitting them against your opponent’s army in battle. The first step in building your army is to select your side and choose the units that will make up your army. Even within the Core Set, you already have impactful choices to make with units of Rebel Troopers and Stormtroopers, along with 74-Z Speeder Bikes, an AT-RT, Darth Vader, and Luke Skywalker. You may be planning to play out a small-scale skirmish between just a few units or a massive battle, but either way, the units that you choose are the foundation of your army.
