About this deal

Thank you, NetGalley and especially Pan Macmillan, Tor, for allowing me to read and review the advanced copy of Lords of Uncreation.

Having now read Lords of Uncreation I can see how a lot of what was done in book two was necessary, but I still think it suffered a bit too much from middle-book syndrome. Intermediary Idris Telemmier helps kill an Architect at Berlenhof, turning the tide of the conflict decades after the destruction of Earth.Publishers Weekly wrote a positive review for Eyes of the Void, stating that the author's "intelligent worldbuilding captures the essence of classic space opera". Lords Of Uncreation has the misfortune to belong to a glut of space opera where the antagonist is "an unknowable force from before time hellbent on stopping space travel".

As I said before, all the questions that I had about the Architects, the Originators and the enemy behind the Architects are answered. This is such an epic science-fiction series and every phenomenal piece of the puzzle fell together beautifully here. You can be juggling your feelings of hope and fear for your favorite characters and boom, just the most wry and fantastic line that drags an undignified cackle out of you.Suffice it to say that it isn't as easy as all that because something that can control almost unimaginably powerful creatures like the Architects must be absolutely formidable.

It is pointless to the rest of the novel and story; it treads THE EXACT SAME GROUND as the second half of Eyes of the Void. This would have worked if there had been *any* use of her legal and diplomatic skills, but she is just. Some things that prevented from being a 5 star book and 5 star series for me was that there was much more focus on Olli and Idris in the final book. Olli, the disabled machine specialist and captain of the Vulture God, is the character that grew on me the most throughout the series, and the way her story ends up entwined with the mysterious Essiel was a really cool element that brought in extra world-building and upped the tension.
