The matrix on side 1 is exactly the same as the other 2 (small text printed and ending with A5), but the matrices on other 3 sides are all written with a scribe which indicates that the stampers could've been damaged during the production run and they had to cut new ones. They are as follows - side 2 (4508851 B3), side 3 (4508851 C5) and side 4 (4508851 D4). Richard Tandy – Yamaha C7B piano, Yamaha CS-80, Wurlitzer electric piano, ARP 2600, Minimoog, Polymoog, ARP Omni, ARP Odyssey, Hohner clavinet, SLM Concert Spectrum, Mellotron M400, sequencers, Gibson SG Custom electric guitar In December 1979 Jet Records decided "to commemorate 12 months in the charts, Jet is pressing ELO's double album, Out Of The Blue, in blue vinyl which will be available at the normal price over the Christmas" - see Music Weekly article below.CashBox Top 100 Albums" (PDF). Matrix / Runout (Runout, C-side, stamped, (JET-400-C3 etched but scratched out, dated 6-12-79) variant 1): JET-DP-400-C3, JET BX 2 E3 TY-CBS I've heard somewhere that the original 70s pressings of this Out Of The Blue were stamped during a low point in vinyl records when the pressing plants tried to save money by reusing the same stampers, people complain about the records sounding worn out, apparently they did the same thing with The Eagles "Hotel California" The nice price inners are a different design and the text starts with the words "Hundreds of Great Value…" This printing error occurs on various UK, Canada, USA, Holland and Europe issues. Some 1980's editions seem to have corrected the error, but the orange text error can be seen again on 1990's Epic Re-issues and even on the Epic 2012 and later issues.

never miss a release.

The arrangement has a prominent cowbell-like sound, [29] and at the end of the song, a vocoder sings "please turn me over", [30] [31] [28] [32] an instruction to physically turn the vinyl over to listen to the final side. [32] [30] The song was released as the album's second UK single in 1978. It was also released in other countries and territories, some of which removed the final outro with the vocoder. [28] Side 4 [ edit ] I'd rank this behind their other albums "Discovery""A New World Record" and "Time" the latter is my all time favourite ELO album. So Jet Records came up with the notion to sue UAR for "allegedly selling defective copies“ just to convince the record buyer not to buy the UAR copies. Jeff Lynne on The One Show".
