About this deal

Larkfield Manor in Herefordshire is the ancestral home of the Bourne family. Set in the Depression, the soap opera focussed on the money worries of the family and the quest of the daughters Elizabeth (Sally Osborne), Anne (Jennifer Lonsdale) and Victoria (Susan Skipper) to find suitable male escorts.

This article is about the British television serial. For the Australian musical, see The Cedar Tree (musical). Phyllis is a cousin of the Bournes, and she is considered part of the family. She is vivacious and loves to socialise, but her tendency to make impulsive decisions often leads to conflicts. She has a close friendship with Lady Alice, who acts as a mentor figure to her. The Cedar Tree Cast & Characters Character I couldn't stand Jupiter Moon, despite being a Soap and Sci Fi fan. Couldn't at the time and then i rewatched it as I was reviewing it for one of the mags (TV Zone I think) when it was released on dvd about 15 years ago. The Bourne family forms the core of the Cedar Tree TV series. Elizabeth is the matriarch of the family, wise and dedicated to her children. She holds the family together through various plots. Anne is the eldest daughter and has a strong personality, often clashing with her more reserved sister, Helen. Helen is the kind-hearted one who is always willing to help others. Arthur, the youngest of the family, is more adventurous and finds himself getting into trouble. In February 2013 it was announced [3] that the first 1976 series was to be released on DVD. A complete box set of all three series has since been released.I had no idea about The Cedar tree until a few weeks. It was by the man who did Upstairs Downstairs, which is one of my all time fav shows. Instead it was done as a soap and I don't think it focussed so much on the Downstairs. Very hard to find online and I don't want to risk buying the boxsets in case I don't like it. One day hopefully The first two series were shown on ITV in the afternoon in a thirty-minute twice weekly format. The first series had 82 episodes; the second had 24 episodes. The final series was given an evening prime time slot and the episodes were extended to sixty minutes; the series consisted of only 13 episodes. [2] The scene was set for a long-running saga of aristocratic decline, but The Cedar Tree lasted only two years. Throughout the series, the cast delivers strong performances that highlight both the everyday joys and hardships that families face. The Cedar Tree offers a comfortable viewing experience, allowing viewers to feel a connection with the characters and their struggles.

I loved what we got of Santa Barbara and would dearly like to see the rest, or certainly the 5 years up to when Lane Davies left. In the show, the cedar tree acts as a symbol of continuity and strength. It represents the enduring nature of the Bourne family and their ability to adapt and overcome the challenges they face throughout the series. What is the main storyline of The Cedar Tree? The Cedar Tree follows the lives of the affluent Bourne family and their domestic staff as they navigate the tumultuous period of the 1930s in Britain. It explores themes such as family, loyalty, and societal change as the characters face various obstacles and events that threaten their way of life. Why did Philip Latham leave the show? Although Sunset Beach was hilariously bad, nothing beats Santa Barbara in my opinion. The dodgy, shaking sets...the mysterious appearance of Channing's 'dead' mother in disguise in every episode. Sheer class... I gotta 're-watch this! It involved the story of the upper class Bourne family before the turn of the Second World War. [1] The main setting is Larkfield Manor, the family home set in Herefordshire, in the grounds of which is the cedar tree. I'd love to see Flamingo Road, Triangle and The Cedar Tree again as I only saw them all once, when i was stil pretty young - especially The Cedar Tree which I used to watch with my Mum when we were both part time - her teaching and me at Nursery in the mornings. Jupiter Moon is another one I came across a few weeks ago. It's was essentially Star Trek as a soap but with no monsters. It even had Lucy Benjamin in it.
