About this deal

Self-cleaning] Ensuring that your brushes are constantly clean is made easier by an integrated brush scraper. Simply push the button once cleanup is over, and the H12 cleans itself so it is prepared and ready for use the next time. Which type is best for you is personal and would be impacted by the size and layout of your home and your general cleaning requirements. If you live in a bungalow or flat then an upright cleaner is probably right for you. But if you live over multiple floors and need to clean stairs the cylinder cleaner can have better all-round utility. This model weighs 5kg, which is pretty good as far as plug-in cleaners go. Besides, as the vacuum is on wheels, we rarely had to lift it. The Vacmaster Respira has a single suction mode, although the button on the side lets you switch the floor roller speed between Hard Floor (labelled as “I”) and carpet (labelled as “II”). It’s a little cheap-looking, but that’s a minor complaint. If there’s too much suction to move the vacuum cleaner – as I found on short-pile carpet – then there’s an air vent that can be opened to reduce suction pressure. At only 7.1 kg, this Henry hoover is lighter than most upright vacuums and even some cylinder vacuums. It is very manoeuvrable, as most dry vacs are, by way of castor wheels. Unless you are seriously deep pile rug, then the Charles glides over most surfaces.

What makes this one of the best vacuum cleaners for the workshop is the working reach. When you stretch out the power cable, hose, and extension tubes, you can reach a massive 26.8m! You won’t need to drag out an extension cord any time soon. The filter needs to be removed before you do any wet vacuuming, otherwise, the filter will just clog, if it does get wet it’s easy to remove and you just soak it in warm water to clean it and leave it to dry. Most importantly read our real-world testing summary and, if you’re still not sure, visit the review. For the really excessively stubborn stuff, like bubblegum or dried glue, that’ll still require old-school elbow grease. But for the majority of messes, these wet/dry vacuum options really clean up.It’s even quieter than most vacuums. You won’t feel like you are in a workshop with a roaring vacuum since it is only a 72dB vacuum.

Overall, good suction power and a large canister make this an excellent cleaning solution for your home DIY projects. Related Reading As is the case with his famous brother, Henry, there aren’t too many frills with this wet dry vacuum, but its performance is what counts. Anf finally all the accessories store on the machine itself so you can save yourself the hassle of finding a drawer to lose them in, they aren’t the best but they do come in handy. We would never wish a burst pipe on any household, but in case of such an emergency we do wish a speedy and easy clean-up—like what we experienced with this Dewalt model, which came to the rescue in one of our tester's homes. Its 12-gallon capacity, flexible 7-foot hose, and easy, intuitive functionality, handled a burst pipe in a crawl space with ease. Even better, it's also a durable, sturdy machine that feels like it would last for years to come. As for accessories, you have pretty much everything you will need and all kept on an onboard tool holder. It comes equipped with a crevice nozzle, an upholstery nozzle (perfect for stains on your furniture or car), a mini cleaning kit and a brush. Basically everything you would need to clean up the inside of a car.

Unlike the Karcher, this only has one floor tool for wet and dry use which makes it slightly worse at carpet cleaning but it’s also a lot cheaper so there’s that to balance it out. Power and mode selection controls are all on the main wand, so you can reach them without bending down. As this is a Lift-Away model, the main cylinder comes out, so you can use the long-reach of the wand and hose to use the detail tools, including the excellent crevice tool and powerful anti-tangle pet brush, which worked wonders on our sofas.

Our indoor environments are not as clean and healthy as we may think, and an air purifier is a wonderful way to remove dust and dangerous gasses. The Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet is exactly as its name makes it sound: built for larger rooms and designed to operate quietly. The Tineco Floor One S5 is another example of a high-quality machine that handled our testing tasks well—especially the grout flooring, which appeared so clean that it was as if someone had run a wash cloth over the grout lines. These results were easy for us to come by too, because the machine has what the brand has dubbed iLoop Smart Sensor Technology that automatically manages suction, water flow, and brush roll speed to handle various messes. Once you’ve finished cleaning, the bin lifts out of the cleaner, and you can flip open the bottom to empty dirt quite easily. There’s one filter here and another in the cleaner, both of which should be cleaned with water to maintain maximum suction.

We've tested over 200 vacuums in the lab and in home settings. Our recent round of wet-dry vacuum testing took the experience and expertise we've gained, and applied it to this specific category. We considered each vacuum's setup, its ease of use and overall effectiveness, its maneuverability, and the process required to empty and clean it after usage. Emptying the cleaner is easy, as the EPA bags just lift out to be thrown away. Note that these are HEPA bags, so homes with allergy sufferers may want to look elsewhere. Anyone looking for a neat, well-priced cylinder vacuum cleaner for homes with pets will like this well-priced option. Weight A more difficult test is my carpet tile test, where we sprinkle flour right up to the skirting board. With the H-Upright 300 set to hard floor mode, it left a trace amount of dust behind. Approaching the mess from different angles and giving the H-Upright 300 a few more sweeps soon collected most of the mess, with just the crevice tool needed for the tiny particles remaining right at the edge. Weight: While cleaners spend most of their time on the floor, weight is still important, particularly if you have multiple stairs, so have to lift the cleaner often. A 4-to-5kg cleaner is quite light, 5-7kg cleaners sit in the middle, and 7kg+ are heavy. You’ll also have a brush attachment for delicate surfaces and a crevice tool for the edges and hard to reach areas.Real-world tests showed that this cleaner was excellent: perfect cleaning to the edges, clean sweeps on carpet and hard floors and pet hair removed with no issue. The filters are foam and washable to save you money on replacements. And the suction is strong enough to even handle wet dog hair. Another area where this machine excelled was in maneuverability. We didn't have any trouble getting under the table and next to chair legs, and most debris was easily lifted. We also found the collection bin to be easy to empty, and the water tank was easy to fill—once we figured out the way to tip them. This is noted in the manual, but it's not necessarily intuitive to the user. One downside we found with this machine was that deep cleaning the machine after use was pretty cumbersome, and it took some extra effort to get all the leftover debris, which we didn't love. Still, our testing confirmed that this machine is effective, powerful, and easy to use. Since pets come with dander, dust mites and bacteria, the washable HEPA filter is a welcome addition. It traps 99.7% of allergens in the cylinder and out of the air. It was 2020 when we last saw a robot vacuum cleaner from Dyson, with the impressive 360 Heurist. While that robot vacuum cleaner is still powerful and capable, the competition has managed to deliver more impressive units with better navigation and more power.
