Today there is much longer lees ageing, differing slightly according to the Iteration and the bottle size, all of which is key to subtle flavour and texture development. Laurent-Perrier has been developing Grand Siècle since 1959, but 2019 was the first year that the iteration number was marked on the bottle. When we have a vertical tasting of Grand Siècle through all the iterations, we do not see a difference in evolution of color. Hints of apricot, lemon confit, white flowers and marzipan grace this wonderfully vibrant, inviting edition of Grand Siècle built on the 2007, 2006 and 2004 vintages. As the cuvée can not be labeled a vintage Champagne, as there is fruit from more than one year, the company identifies these wines according to a term known as iteration.Wonderfully expressive aromas of white flowers, peach, fresh pear, sweet butter and exotic magnolia blossom.

We served it as an aperitif and this is worth every penny and one of the best champagnes I've tried. From magnums based on the 1999 vintage (supplemented by the two previous vintages released by the house) – although the bottles of the concurrent release of this wine are apparently based on the 2002 vintage.
