About this deal

Telestrations takes the top spot on the list of board games like Scrawl because they are basically the same thing. Scrawl is more positioned as an adult game where there is bound to be some hilarious mis interpretations while Telestrations is a more straight forward version of that. It’s amusing to see the way each picture has evolved by the end of the game, and the more iterations the better, making Disney Sketchy Tales a party game that is excellent for large groups.

So when we heard about Sketchy Tales: Disney Edition by Big Potato Games, and thought it seemed a lot like Telestrations, we were happy to give it a go. I have hidden this adorable Minnie Mouse lip balm away to wrap up for Lydia for Christmas. She loves a good lip balm and is a huge Minnie fan, so this combo is perfect for her. It looks really sweet and will be ideal for popping into her Minnie Mouse bag that she sometimes takes on walks – she does like to match! Disney Aladdin Hand Sanitizer Family friendly, for all ages and drawing capabilities; Sketchy Tales: Disney Edition is a great take on the classic Chinese whispers formula and one where you definitely don’t have to be an artist to enjoy (or win). Scrawl takes the top spot on the list of games like Telestrations because it is a drawing game that requires some knowhow but it is also a fun party game that will get the laughter flowing. Just like Telestrations, this is very much a descendent of the classic game of Telephone. You do the same thing here, instead of miscommunications coming through talking into people’s ear, it happens over drawing and passing.

How does Sketchy Tales compare to Telestrations?

Continue if you are looking for games like Telestrations and are curious about what similar games to play next. In the game, each player begins by sketching a word dictated by the roll of a die. Time is limited by the old fashioned sand timer. When time is up all players, all at the same time, pass their sketch to the next player, who must guess what’s been drawn. Players then simultaneously pass their guess — which hopefully matches the original word — to the next player who must try to draw the word they see — and so on.

What happens if you mix Jenga with superpowers? You get Rhino Hero. A charming exercise in balance and steady hands, it's perfect for all ages. It isn't weighed down with lots of rules or reading either, making this very appealing as a board game for kids who don't like to read.Speaking of which, all versions of the game (including the Avengers, Batman, Harry Potter, and Jurassic Park) are interchangeable. Despite featuring unique characters and boards, each one uses the same core rules. Accordingly, it's easy to take a figure from one set to another, and it's a neat twist on Funko's 'collect 'em all' mentality. Some characters will be more easy to draw from memory, like Dumbo. But those Disney princesses can be a lot tougher to distinguish one from the other when you’re receiving sketches from other players. Time to draw Pumbaa juggling eggs! There’s a wide range of characters from many Disney films, both old and new, and the starting action prompts are varied and amusing. We appreciated the fact that you have four actions to choose from at the start, particularly useful for those who are more drawing-challenged.

The premise sounds taxing but is very simple after the first game. Players each draw one character card and one action card. Both cards offer multiple choices just in case any of your fellow players are a little bit of a snoop. Once received, each player selects one of the characters illustrated on their card and one of the actions on the other. It’s now down to your skills with a pen as you are each tasked with drawing your selected character carrying out your selected action. We tried to keep things under control by allowing players only three minutes to craft their Picasso. This process is completed over an over until one player has earned a score of at least the number of players plus two. That is it for how to play Sketchy Tales Disney. Once everyone has finished their masterpieces, they pass them face down to the player on their left. Everyone looks at the new drawing in front of them, takes a blank Sketchy Card and clips it over the illustration. They write down in words what the drawing was about, who was in it and what they were doing. Once you’ve done that, pass the boards to the left again. Read the new description before you all. (Don’t look at the drawing underneath it for help!) Now clip a fresh Sketchy Card over the words and draw what you’ve just read. Then pass it to the left.

Plus, you don’t have to be an artist to enjoy playing the game. In fact, not being able to draw well often makes for the funniest moments. Thanks to a brilliant elevator pitch (you must fight off the undead to avoid eternal detention), Zombie Kidz Evolution feels like it's been pulled straight from a child's imagination. Especially because they'll end up battling the horde with toys such as off-brand lightsabers or the best Nerf guns.
