About this deal

The MSRA application for 2024 Round 1 opens at 10am on 26 October 2023 and closes on 23rd November 2023 at 4pm. Making optimum use of time is important – using travel time to answer a few questions here or there, or listen to a chapter of our MSRA Clinical Crammer or SJT Audiobook courses for example, can add to the formal preparation time that you sit down to do. You will be given eight plausible actions for each scenario and asked to select the three most appropriate actions. You will be required to consider the appropriateness of each individual action and select three responses that will fully resolve the situation when used in combination. If the result shows you have MRSA on your skin, you’ll need to treat it with a special nasal cream or spray, body wash and shampoo for around 5 to 10 days.

The MSRA uses many different equated assessment forms and therefore knowledge of questions in one paper will not necessarily benefit others. We would also remind all applicants that entry to GP specialty training is competitive. GP specialty training 1 (ST1) 2023 round 2 scoring The main problem with the PD paper is time. With 50 scenarios and 95 minutes you get around 1 minute 48 seconds per question. However as the scenarios require some thought it can be easy to spend too long on some questions and run out of time. The key here is practice and to understand the scoring as we'll see in a second. Multiple choice questions – These will ask you to choose the three most appropriate actions related to the situation from a list of eight – the combination of these three actions should help resolve the situation in the question. Familiarise yourself with the topics that will be covered within the Clinical Problem Solving Paper You will be presented with clinical scenarios and required to utilise your judgement and problem solving skills to determine the appropriate diagnosis and treatment of patients. The Clinical Problem Solving paper is timed, and candidates have 75 minutes to complete it. Although there is no negative marking, candidates are advised to answer all questions to maximize their chances of obtaining a high score. The Professional Dilemmas section is limited to 95 minutes and is a ranking test, consisting of 50 scenarios. For each situation presented, the candidate will have to rate the appropriateness of 4-5 independent actions (from 1=most to 5=least appropriate).

The MSRA is delivered in Pearson VUE test centres across several consecutive days within the MSRA window. The exam is offered throughout the UK and internationally; you can find your closest test centre here. It’s worth noting that there may not be availability at your nearest or preferred Pearson VUE test centre, due to the demand within the short assessment window, so you may be required to travel further to sit your exam. Each answer option may be selected once, or more, or not at all. For SBAs, candidates must choose the single most appropriate answer out of 5-8 answer options for a clinical presentation. For example, candidates may be presented with a short clinical case and asked to choose the single most appropriate diagnosis. One mark is awarded for each correct answer in the CPS paper. D) Ignore the nurse’s comment as the patient’s daughter could always relay any concerns when she visits later will be extended matching questions (list of 7-10 plausible response options and multiple, separate questions linked to this response set) and ~50% will be single best answers (select single most appropriate or likely answer out of 5-8 plausible responses for 1 clinical presentation). This is why we’ve released the Medibuddy MSRA Adaptive Question Bank. Our question bank is the only one on the market that uses machine learning algorithms to identify your strengths and weaknesses, ensuring that every minute of your revision is focused on maximising your exam score. Identify the recruiting body: Each specialty has its own recruiting body responsible for the selection process. The recruiting body for the specialty you are interested in will be able to provide you with detailed information on the application process.

The assessment itself is free of charge, but please note that any travel and accommodation expenses incurred will be your own responsibility and will not be reimbursed. We strongly recommend that you book your assessment as early as possible to secure a spot at the test center nearest to you and avoid any potential inconvenience or delays. How long is MSRA exam valid for? In the CPS part of the assessment, candidates are presented with clinical scenarios that require them to exercise judgement and problem solving skills to determine appropriate diagnosis and management of patients. Questions focus on your ability to apply and apply clinical knowledge appropriately. The items are based on Foundation-level clinical practice, and test higher level knowledge of medical knowledge. Candidates are presented with scenarios and asked to evaluate the appropriateness of four or five independent actions in response to the situation. The best ways to prepare for the PD questions are to pay attention to what’s happening with all members of the multi-disciplinary team around you, and listen to their problems and their resolutions to them. Secondly, you should work through the questions available on Pastest which are the closest to the real exam questions that I’ve found. I was able to whizz through the PD paper, with approximately 20-30 minutes to spare, and still score in the top 2% because I’d worked through every question on Pastest and there was nothing in the real exam that was any different. They must consider the appropriateness of each individual action and select three responses which, when used in combination, will fully resolve the situation. Half of the questions in the CPS paper are extended matching questions (EMQs) and half are single best answers (SBA). EMQs feature sets of 7-10 answer options, each with multiple associated questions. For each question, candidates must choose the most appropriate answer option from the set. For example, candidates may be asked to select the most appropriate drugs, from a list, to prescribe to several different patients. Similar to the Situational Judgement Test ( SJT), designed for applying to the Foundation Program, the Professional Dilemmas Paper is designed to assess non-technical skills.Questions are set within the context of the Foundation Program, with the candidate usually assuming the role of an F2 doctor (within a range of contexts and rotations that a Foundation Doctor would realistically find themselves in).

Yes, I meant MSRA, not MRSA – although sometimes it can feel like a superbug...The MSRA (Multi-Specialty Recruitment Assessment) is part of the selection process for entering GP training, as well as several different postgraduate medical specialties. To become a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), and gain entry to the GMC GP Register so you can begin applying for jobs, you must first pass the RCGP exams including MSRA. The CPS paper is a little more straight forward. For each question, 1 mark is awarded for choosing the correct response without any negative marking.

The MSRA is separated into two sections, and you can see an example of a question from each section in our question bank below. Professional Dilemmas Paper Once the application timeframe has ended, you will receive a message asking you to register with Pearson VUE using the credentials associated with your Oriel account. The PD paper is a situational judgement test (SJT) comprising fifty questions. 1 Typically, 95 minutes are allocated for this part of the MSRA. Candidates may be allowed 25% or 50% additional time as reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010. 1 The PD paper poses workplace-based scenarios featuring professional dilemmas to assess candidates’ judgement of appropriate behaviour. Ruby is 2 years old and is seen today with her father as she has had a one-week history of runny nose and has complained her throat hurts. This morning she has noted a rash on both cheeks but nowhere else on the body. Ruby is well in herself and eating, drinking, passing urine and opening her bowels as normal. She has no other medical history and is up to date with immunisations. She is not lethargic and on examination today is playing happily in the consulting room, has normal observations and an unremarkable respiratory and throat examination. There is a diffuse erythematous rash on both cheeks. What is her most likely diagnosis?
