About this deal

There are six levels of overdrive, from 0 to 100 (increments of 20). For most content, setting this feature to 40 or 60 will work best as it eliminates most ghosting without adding any overshot or inverse ghosting. Information about the maximum vertical viewing angle, within which the image on the screen is of acceptable quality. We've tried different monitor resolutions and observed that a higher resolution provides a sharper and more detailed picture, resulting in a better overall gaming experience. A higher resolution means that the games will look more detailed, and you'll be able to see everything more clearly, including text quality, texture quality, aliasing (jagged edges), and HUD elements.

TUF Gaming VG289Q1A is a 28-inch, 4K UHD, IPS display with superior images, 90 % DCI-P3 color space designed for professional gamers. It also features FreeSync/Adaptive-Sync technology, for extremely fluid gameplay without tearing and stuttering.Based on our analysis, the Asus 28" VG289Q and Asus 28" VG289Q1A monitors both have a resolution of 3840 x 2160, which we found was excellent for gaming. Ergonomics Information about the ergonomic functions - height adjustment, swivel angles, tilt angles, etc. VESA mount The operating humidity shows the acceptable level of humidity, in which the display will function flawlessly. The ASUS TUF-series monitor is based on a 28″ AAS (IPS) panel by Innolux with 178° wide viewing angles, a 1,000:1 static contrast ratio, a 350-nit peak brightness and a wide 90% DCI-P3 color gamut with dithered 10-bit depth support. The percentage of the approximate area, taken by the active part of the screen, to the total front area. For instance, the LG 27UL650 monitor has the DisplayHDR 400 badge because it has a peak brightness of 400-nits, whereas the VG289Q has a maximum luminance of 350-nits.It offers an immersive picture quality with crisp details and rich colors as well as smooth performance thanks to fast response time and FreeSync. Specifications Screen Size The 28-inch 4K UHD (3840 X 2160) IPS panel of TUF Gaming VG289Q1A gives you four times the pixels of similar-sized Full HD 1080p displays so you get more detailed images when playing games or watching movies, as well as more onscreen desktop space for your various work windows. It draws you into immersive virtual worlds, with greatly-textured elements and terrain maps that boast impressive levels of detail. Color Gamut refers to the range of colors that a monitor can display. A wide color gamut means the monitor can display more colors, creating a more vibrant and lifelike image. FreeSync works without issues with compatible GeForce cards even though it’s not officially certified by NVIDIA. Information of the number of pixels in a unit of length. The operating temperature shows the safe temperature range (from minimum to maximum), within which the display will function flawlessly. Outside this range it might operate improperly and/or fail entirely. The storage temperature shows the range from a minimum to a maximum temperature, within which storing of the display is considered to be safe. With some low refresh rate monitors, we've had situations where their low refresh rate resulted in choppy, stuttering motion, particularly during fast-paced action scenes in movies or games. This poor performance of having a low refresh rate is because the monitor cannot keep up with the speed at which the picture changes. A higher refresh rate can reduce this effect, resulting in a more immersive and responsive experience. Our experience with monitors has shown us that a high refresh rate is crucial when playing fast-paced games such as first-person shooters and racing games. The Asus TUF Gaming VG289Q worked well for SDR gaming, by providing just enough extra color to enhance the image without going too far. Some purists will miss a true sRGB picture mode. However, game color is a relative perception for most, and we the typical gamer will complain about SDR picture quality. We tried using the dynamic contrast option, called ASCR, for SDR gameplay. It worked subtly and didn’t clip shadow and highlight detail, like similar features on most monitors do. ASCR gave the image a tiny bit more dimension, so we left it on for all our hands-on tests. Unfortunately, ASCR isn’t available in HDR mode.Updated to Test Bench 1.2, resulting in changes to the results and scores with the Response Time and Input Lag. Added tests for Console Compatibility and macOS compatibility and made minor changes to other tests, which you can see in our Changelog. There are various panel technologies. Each has its own specific features - viewing angles, color reproduction, response time, brightness/contrast, production cost, etc. The image quality depends directly on the type of the display panel used.

When we fired up the HDR title Call of Duty: WWII on the Asus TUF Gaming VG289Q we saw a little better delineation between the darkest and lightest areas of the image. In a basement, for example, dark corners looked suitably mysterious while highlights, like from lanterns and flashlights, came to the fore. The extra color was apparent as well with nicely saturated reds and slightly more vivid greens and blues. The operating altitude shows the maximum admissible altitude, at which the display will function flawlessly. Above this level it might not operate properly and/or might seize to function. The only option available for HDR signals are two image modes, which were nearly identical in both measurement and appearance. We settled on Cinema HDR as our favorite.
