About this deal

This is an excellent and lightweight automatic pump. It is powered by a lithium-ion battery, so the mains lead is only there to charge the battery and cannot be plugged in during use. I thought I was buying a mains powered pump so was disappointed, until I realised that it has sufficient power to inflate four tyres (as long as they are not completely flat) up to required pressure, without the hassle of trailing wires. The Ring RTC2000 Cordless Handheld Tyre Inflator is a small rechargeable tyre inflator that's designed for topping up car tyres and inflating bicycle tyres, footballs (and the like) and even inflatables. It's light in weight (at roughly 500g) and comes with a two piece adaptor kit for sports equipment and Presta bike valves. There's an LED light and it also acts as a powerbank function if need be. Extra long 70cm air hose with easy access storage compartment specifically designed to reduce kinks

Here's a great concept: an inflator that’s cordless for maximum convenience but can also be connected to a 12-volt supply so it can continue pumping if the battery drains down. The extra convenience of being cordless adds to the cost, but for me a price well worth paying. After much research I decided on this, having had several other types that either didn't work well, or didn't last. This is very easy to use, powerful and is very well made. We like the digital gauge and auto-stop facility, but pressure has to be expressed in PSI only, unlike with all the other units here. The gauge, annoyingly, shows target pressure rather than actual pressure, leaving a coloured bar display to chart inflation progress. Our final niggle is the old-school lever-type tyre coupling. Cordless tyre inflator, ideal for camping and road trips. The RTC6000 digital tyre inflator can inflate a tyre in just two minutes. Comes with air compressor setting for tyres, and air pump setting for air beds. Can inflate a single airbed in just two minutes. The Sealey MAC01 smoothly adds air to a flat tyre in an excellent time – but it's let down by its lever-type valve which feels primitive when compared to other inflators in this test. This leftfield unit from Sealey gets the bulk of the basics right – but often in an odd way. For instance, the generous 5m power lead means the inflator can always be positioned right by the wheel, making its 2m coiled air hose a little excessive. This comes with a variety of adapters, as there is the ability to pump up mattresses too, but that isn't something I'll do, as our ki ds will use it when they go camping this summer. Read less Wolf’s Glovebox Genie is definitely the best all-rounder for the money thanks to its solid inflation time and reasonable price. It may be slower than some tyre inflators ranked lower in this test, but it's only 25 secs slower than the brisk result set by the Sealey MAC01. What I did find though, was that having set this and the number being reached, it continued to pump. Not sure why, but maybe to allow for when you remove the tube from the valve, albeit the leakage was so minimal, to be nothing!

Some units are also equipped with an Auto-stop function, where you simply dial the target pressure into the inflator and it pumps out air until that pressure is reached. Simple. Most tyre inflators also feature screwed valve couplings which are faster and more effective than the old-fashioned lever coupling, making it even easier to add an accurate amount of air. Finally we tried it on a few flat footballs and a basketball, using the attachment which cleverly slots in the base. Again it was simple to use and fast to inflate - a handy thing to have for when the kids decide they want to play football there and then. Over the time we've used it, we found it has kept its charge well, even when sat in the boot of the car for a few months. Given most people are used to tyre inflators being the size of a kids lunchbox with wires and cables, this small handlheld design might come as a surprise. It's about the size of a standard 50cl bottle of water and not much different in weight either. To charge it up took about three hours when it first arrived and since then we've been charging it up between uses. To get the quality score, we’re looking at a number of factors, but typically we’re studying the brand of the product, the warranty included and basing it on what customers have to say about the quality. For the review score, we gave Ring RCT6000 Cordless Digital Tyre Inflator 9.1 out of 10. To reach that score we use information on what customers are saying about the same product from a number of retailers, to create an aggregate score. Powered tyre inflators are an essential piece of maintenance equipment for any driver, helping car owners inflate or deflate the tyres on their car with ease.

And even though the Sakura is beaten by its closely related Sealey sibling, its modern attributes make it an appealing alternative, albeit at the compromise of speed. In the box you get the inflator as well as a carrying bag and a bottle cage attachment so you can carry it on your bike. The unit is charged via a standard USB cable that's supplied. Comes with LED light to make night time inflation easier and safer. Also comes with 10 piece adaptor set for use with tyres, bicycle tyres, motorcycle tyres, balls, airbeds and other inflatables. Includes case and storage for adaptors.

But while its portable nature and trigger style are perfect for squeezing in the odd PSI or two, this model's rather slow inflation speed and short (15cm) air hose make longer pumping jobs tedious. Also the plug you plug in to charge the pump feels rather flimsy. Your frightened of misalignment when you plug it in or pressing/pushing it in too hard. But regardless of my thoughts on apparent faults would still recommend and buy agai n. Read full review Despite its smaller size, the Ring performed well, inflating the tyre faster than some of the larger models in this test. The Ring also retains a leisure inflator/deflator and is fitted with a Deflate button. We were also a fan of the foolproof knob and display set-up, and the smart carrying bag. RTC600 Digital Tyre Inflator with auto stop. Comes with programmable digital gauge that automatically stops at the set pressure and remembers the information for future use.

The on/off switch is large, but temperamental and does not always stay on meaning that you have to manually hold the switch down while the pump is working. This may be a fault with my pump. Comes with LED light to make night time inflation easier and safer. Also comes with 10 piece adaptor set for use with tyres, bicycle tyres, motorcycle tyres, balls, airbeds and other small inflatables. Includes case and storage for adaptors. Sakura hasn’t skimped on the extras here, with the SS5332 featuring a digital display, a built-in auto-stop function and a deflate button. The air hose and power lead are both decent lengths, too. There is an easy setting for the gauge, via a yellow knob underneath the display, so that you can set the correct pressure.
