About this deal

The keyboard is touch (velocity) – sensitive, which means the volume/timbre changes depending on how hard or soft you play the keys, reproducing the rich dynamic range of a grand piano. Dual Mode will allow you to layer two instrument sounds so that they sound simultaneously across the entire keyboard range. For example, you can layer strings with the piano sound or combine whatever sounds you like to get some new interesting sounds. One significant advantage of the Korg B1 is the sustain pedal. Unlike the foot-switch with the P45, the Korg B1 gives you a proper piano pedal with half pedaling support. This alone would encourage me to lean more towards the Korg B1. Don’t forget though that the P45 is still a full-sized, 88-key instrument and isn’t suitable for long trips by plane/train.

Fine tuning function allows you to raise or lower the pitch of entire keyboard in 0.2 Hz increments to match the pitch of another instrument or singer, for example. Predictably, the included Yamaha FC5 sustain footswitch works as it’s supposed to, but is somewhat flimsy and doesn’t look very nice. The graded element of the key action is pretty subtle. This isn’t something beginner players will immediately notice, but it’s a worthwhile inclusion from Yamaha. So what is a graded action? Well, simply put, this is when the low notes are weighted slightly differently from the higher ones. This mimics the way an acoustic piano behaves. These little touches all add up to a more authentic feeling instrument. That’s pretty much it when it comes to differences between the P-45 and P-125. And considering the P-125 is not that much more expensive than the P-45… The Casio PX-160 despite being slightly more expensive than the P45 might be an interesting alternative to the Yamaha, especially if you feel that you need a little more than the P-45’s basic features.

The P45 uses an improved AWM synthesis system to deliver stunningly realistic piano sounds. AWM works by using digital recordings of real instrumentsto create the sound of an acoustic grand, wherever you are. However if you want to change it up and perform in a different style the P45 also includes a number of other keyboard instruments for you to play, including Electric pianos, organ and harpsichord. Unlike some higher-end models, the keys on the P-45 don’t have moisture-absorbing keytops that replicate the feel of Ebony and Ivory.

The P-45 includes a USB-To-Host port; this can be connected to Mac computers, iOS devices and Windows PCs and will send and receive MIDI information once a connection is established. A keyboard with light-up keys is another good option to consider. A good choice would be Casio LK series. For example, when you depress the sustain pedal, the earliest played notes continue to sound while you’re adding new ones and the piano needs more memory to keep all the notes sounding. The sustain pedal does its job however does not feel like a real pedal and there’s no way to hold it in place other than tape/glue it on the floor.Being in love with music for as far as he can remember, Lucas started this blog as the “ go-to”place for the most accurate and detailed information about the world of music.

This is a great way to save money rather than having to buy each of these items separately, which can start to add up after a while. Video Overview of Yamaha P45B The quality of the sound through the onboard speakers is pretty decent, especially considering the size of the instrument. The sound remains clear and doesn’t distort even at max volume. There are several instrument sounds other than piano sound. You can find a list of these in the features section below. It has all the features and a good key action to develop your skills in the early stage of your learning process. Exactly my thoughts . If you’re a piano player go with the best action. Anything else might sound cool but will piss you off when you try to play your best stuffHere is a feature that is perfect for professionals and beginners in this digital piano. You can change the various settings using a single button, including changing voices, setting up the built-in metronome, playing demo sources, and more. The 1st option is not to buy a stand at all. The P45 is compact enough to place it on a desk, table or any other flat surface. For some, it’s maybe not very convenient, but still, that option is available.

At only 11.5 kgand with a depth of less than 30 cm, the P45 is easy to move andtakes up almost no space, wherever you want to take it. Move it across the room, to your gig or even an impromptu jam outside in the sun. Specifications Keyboard

The sensitivity of the keyboard can be adjusted, depending on your own personal playing style. As we mentioned, this can be a good keyboard for beginners, and the GHS weighted action is one of the reasons why, because they will be learning on something that feels like a grand piano. Some of our favorite features of the P45B include: 64-Note Polyphony Weighing in at only 11.5kg, this compact piano is easily moved from place to place, whether that’s to piano lessons, jam sessions, or even gigs.
