About this deal

And whilst not listened to in their entirety, the new commentaries with Newman and Jones appear to be a really fun listen that lets them both bring a wealth of horror history and experience to the fore, again giving a great new perspective on the films and their supplements. Chris) When the decision was taken at 60MW Towers on who would review which Hellraiser movie, I almost breathed a sigh of relief when I got Hellraiser 3: Hell on Earth. Meanwhile Joey is haunted by dreams of her father who died in Vietnam as they start to investigate the origins of the mysterious box. Europe's busiest forums, with independent news and expert reviews, for TVs, Home Cinema, Hi-Fi, Movies, Gaming, Tech and more. Yes, horror, but at its heart is a story of love, longing, obsession, lust and the abject boredom and the familiarity of marriage.

Much of the same is also true of Hellbound: Hellraiser II, only here there's the added complication of matte and optical FX shots, which naturally see detail levels drop significantly. Now his former lover Julia ( Clare Higgins) must kill to make him whole again; but the Cenobites want Frank back, and there’ll be hell to pay when they find him. Brace yourself for the disturbing and visceral imagery that has terrified audiences for decades, now reawakened on the big screen with unparalleled clarity and precision. The story takes place after the events of the first film as we see Kirsty ( Ashley Laurence) committed to an asylum under the care of the classy yet perverse Dr Channard (played exquisitely by British stage actor Kenneth Cranham) who throughout the film establishes his character as one of the most twisted and memorable in horror cinema. Despite its troubled production history, Hellraiser: Bloodline offers the most consistent of the 4K images, representing a sizeable jump forward in colour depth and detail compared to the film's earlier Full HD presentations on US Blu-ray releases. While we’re not quite sure how we got there, the exploration of ‘Hell’ is a phantasmagorical ride, inspired by the works of Escher as well as Barker’s own demented psyche. Likewise, this tightening up of fine detail is readily apparent and first-generation images look stunningly sharp. The visual effects haven’t aged particularly well but I can’t be too critical based on the budget of the film.

We reviewed the region free UK Ultra HD Blu-ray release of Hellraiser: Quartet of Torment on a JVC-DLA N5 Ultra HD 4K projector and a Panasonic DP-UB820 4K UHD player . Last night I ventured into the realm of horror once again as Hellraiser’s 4K restoration was screened at Cineworld. The differences between the stereo and surround options are mostly due to the expansion into the speakers, both tracks retaining a very similar audio character – mid-range is healthy, with a decent low end and a crystal clean higher range.Unboxing Hellraiser * (HD; 21:53) is a fun piece by Alexandra Benedict focusing on a "different" kind of unboxing. They are: Hellraiser: Quartet of Torment (1987-1996), The House by the Cemetery (1981), Witness (1985), The Iron-Fisted Monk (1977), and The Desperate Hours (1955).
