About this deal

Substitute Dyes: a Tintex dye from the same colour family can be used in a new dye formula. Colour results may vary depending on how light/dark the substituted colour is and how much dyed is used in the formula (example: cardinal red, scarlet red, tangerine orange). For cotton, linen and rayon dissolve one cup (237 ml) of salt in a little hot water and add to dye bath. For silk and wool add a third of a cup (78 ml) of white vinegar instead of salt. Avoid pouring directly onto fabric. Soak the linen fabric (or cotton, or any piece you chose to use for the fabric dye project) in water over night. This way the water will get thoroughly into the fabric and encourage more even colour absorption once you simmer the fabric. Rit DyeMore requires a higher temperature than our all-purpose dye, so for the best results use the stovetop method. Miscellaneous Items: Such as unfinished clay, cement, cork, feathers, fabric lampshades, paraffin (powder dye only), cotton and nylon rope, sand and seashells.

When the machine has completed the wash cycle allow it to complete the balance of the wash/rinse/spin cycle. What I LOVE about this recipe is that it is so versatile! It can be served with meat, as vegetarian or even vegan option! I use this recipe as a foundation for my lunches, adding other foods to make it filling. If the garment you are planning to dye has a light color and you are looking to dye it a darker color: Then all we recommend doing is following the standard instructions for how to use Rit All-Purpose Dye. If you are trying to get as dark of a color as possible, please also read our tips on how to get the darkest color possible. Off white linen fabric was then a great choice because just like cotton, linen is a natural plant-based fibre. These types of fabric are usually the best for natural dyeing because they absorb the colour well. Synthetic fibres are not a good choice for natural dyeing because the fibre is too resistant. However, there are other natural types of fabric such as wool and silk which are animal-based. Wool and silk yarn is also a wonderful material to use for natural dye techniques!Extend the dyeing time by resetting the wash cycle before the rinse cycle begins. The longer the dyeing time, the darker the colour and better the fixation. We recommend 50 to 60 minutes of dyeing time. A small amount of any dye makes a pastel (example: use 1/16, 1/8 or 1/4 tsp of dye colour mixed with 1 cup hot water). Start with the smallest amount and add more dye or hot water as needed.

The stovetop method is the most effective at removing color, maintaining a constant simmer throughout the process. Some fabrics lose their color in as fast as 10 minutes, others can take an hour or two to achieve a cream color. Light color changes, such as brightening or removing stains from white fabrics, can be achieved using Color Remover in a washing machine. If you are looking to: (a) dye a dark garment a lighter color or (b) completely change the color of a garment from one color to another (such as from purple to blue): Then you must first use Rit Color Remover to remove the color from the garment, bringing it to a white or off-white color. You will then have a blank canvas to achieve a true color with whatever dye you choose to use. Once the color is removed, follow the instructions for how to use Rit All-Purpose Dye. When you’re satisfied with the colour shade, remove the pot from the heat, place it into the bath. Let it set for a moment, until the water has coolled down to a reasonable temperature.

Gorgeous avocado dye blush pink linen tank top

Easy, healthy, delicious! Two of my most favourite recipes, one for the morning and one as a light lunch or dinner! Avocado and Egg breakfast You’ll need: Fiber blends with at least 60% cotton or other dyeable fiber (blends will tint evenly but will not achieve full color) Wash the greens thoroughly and place in medium size salad bowl. Cut the avocado to large pieces and the cherry tomatoes in half, add to the greens. Grate the carrot roughly and add to the mixture as well, sprinkle with sunflower seeds and feta cheese broken to pieces by hand. Lastly, drizzle generously with olive oil, add one tea spoon of balsamic vinegar and two pinches of salt. It is no news that at Le cafe de maman we love to use linen and other natural fibres such as cotton! You can see it all over our crative blog and SHOP! It is also no news that we love natural dye techniques, have you tried the Easter Egg natural dye DIY project? It is now even possible to dye golf balls, Rit DyeMore allows you to dye these items bright, beautiful colours. It can also dye your 3D printed creations too.

Maintain a rolling boil and stir frequently for ½ to 1 hour. For uniform colour use constant agitation. Place on the cooker and bring to boil, simmering for about an hour. The brownighs pink colour will begin to form in the water as you simmer. Fill a stainless steel or enamel pot with just enough warm water for the fabric to move freely. Turn heat on medium. Remove fabric from water.Get Warmer Colours:add a small amount of brilliant yellow, tangerine orange, scarlet or cardinal red dye (example: add brilliant yellow to make magenta a true red). Turn off heat and allow the dye bath to return to room temperature, stirring occasionally. Rinse when cool enough to handle. Wear gloves as residual dye can stain skin. If you are doing a cotton and silk blend and don’t know whether to add the salt or the vinegar you have 3 options:
