About this deal

When I test TVs, my first step is to spend a few days using it for casual viewing for break-in and to assess the out-of-box picture presets. The next step is to select the most accurate-looking preset (typically labeled Movie or Cinema) and measure the white balance (grayscale), gamma and color point accuracy using Portrait Displays’ Calman color calibration software. The resulting measurements provide Delta-E values (the margin of error between the test pattern source and what’s shown on-screen) for each category, and they allow for an assessment of the TV’s overall accuracy. However, with four HFR (high frame rate) compatible HDMI inputs, useful Game Bar user interface, and a polished smart home interface, only serious home cinephiles are likely to feel shortchanged. It could be manufacturing them more cheaply. The more efficient a company is at producing a TV, the more cheaply it can sell them while turning a profit. That's why the price of high-end technologies gradually drops. QLED and OLED display were frighteningly expensive at launch, but several years later they are easier to make and more affordable as a result. Practice makes perfect (and cheaper). The TV's audio system uses a 2.1.2 Dolby Atmos speaker system with 50 watts total power, with an Acoustic Tuning Adjustment providing automatic sound calibration. One of its HDMI outputs supports eARC for connecting to an external soundbar – something the TV’s width-adjustable support feet are designed to accommodate – and there’s also a WiSA option for wirelessly connecting WiSA-certified speakers to the TV.

The Hisense 85A6BTUK is available in a single-size option of 85 inches. The large TV makes it an excellent option for those looking for a big-screen viewing experience. However, the TV’s size may not be suitable for smaller rooms or apartments, where a smaller TV may be more appropriate. 4K Resolution The LG G3 OLED is one of the best OLED TVs on the market and is available in an 83-inch size. It's meant to be wall-mounted and doesn't come with a stand. However, it's very expensive, and the 83-inch model doesn't come with the MLA layer, so it's not as bright as its smaller sizes. It's still a bit brighter than the LG C3 OLED, but the C3 has the same features for a much lower price. Two of the TV’s HDMI ports support up to 4K 144Hz input from a next-gen gaming console. There’s support for VRR, ALLM and FreeSync Premium Pro, and an onscreen Game Bar menu lets you make gaming-related adjustments on the fly while playing. Additionally, the set has a built-in ATSC 3.0 tuner to receive 'NextGen' digital TV broadcasts. With Hisense, it's the other way round. Typically its TVs struggle, but there are some diamonds in the rough. When costs are so low, it's worth searching for that one good model that's comparable to more well-known brands, but undercuts them by hundreds of pounds. What about the Hisense Laser TV? The Hisense 85A6BTUK features a range of calibration settings, allowing users to fine-tune the picture quality to their preferences. The TV features a range of preset picture modes, including Standard, Cinema, Game, Sports, and Vivid. I reviewed a 65-inch U8K, which managed to beat Hisense’s brightness spec for the series. Peak brightness measured 1590 nits on a 10% white window pattern with the TV set to HDR Theater mode, which is notably higher than the 905 nits I measured in Fillmmaker mode on last year’s U8H series model. A white pattern covering 100% of the TV’s screen hit 760 nits, which is similarly impressive performance for that test. It's worth noting that although the A80L supports Dolby Vision, it doesn't support it at 4K 120Hz. Because the PS5 doesn't recognise Dolby Vision itself, this isn't a concern for PS5 owners, but is worth mentioning if you have an Xbox Series X too. We haven't tested any of Hisense's 2023 TVs yet, which have a focus on Mini LED displays, but we will update this article when we do. Hopefully Hisense can continue to close the gap between it and its rivals.

The best 85-inch TVs need to be pretty spectacular, because at this size you notice any flaws. We tested our TVs in a wide range of environments, across a wide range of sources and streaming services, at different times of the day to see how well they delivered in a typical home.

High-end Hisense TVs support HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision, while its top-of-the-range OLED sets have HDR10+ and Dolby Vision IQ too. This puts them right in the mix with the household name TV brands. The Hisense 85A6BTUK has a wide viewing angle, ensuring everyone in the room can enjoy the same picture quality. The TV uses an IPS panel that maintains accurate colors and contrast even when viewed from an angle. This means you can enjoy the TV from any angle without experiencing a loss of picture quality.
