About this deal

It’s best to replace teats at regular intervals – at least every two to three months – as washing and sterilising will wear on the material. My baby is 7 weeks old and he took an unusual 8 bottles yesterday and only went 30 min between feeds waking up all the time and seeming really restless. The Philips Avent teats come in six different sizes. The smallest of which is ideal for preemie babies, and the range goes up to a fast flow. With my two babies I sometimes changed at just the right moment before they even showed any signs of needing to and it was seamless.

Dexter was around six months old when I changed the teats in his bottle from size 2 to size 3. I had previously attempted to change him to the bigger teats around a month before, but had failed spectacularly. Milk had spilled everywhere, he had choked, gagged, spat out the milk and finally started clamping his mouth shut. What is Colic? Colic causes are common when a baby swallows too much air during the feeding process. If your baby seems unsettled after their feeds, our anti-colic baby feeding bottles reduces baby colic by up to 80%**. The MAM Easy Start Anti-Colic bottles feature a vented base to reduce the air intake during feeds. Appropriate if your child has shown consistent feeding with no difficulties and is taking larger amounts at the breast and bottle. To some babies, yes teat size matters. This is because the size and flow rate of different sized teats might not always suit your baby’s feeding habits. But it’s pretty common for a baby to be perfectly content with one teat size the whole time they’re bottle feeding, but the flow rate will need to change over time as they develop. All Tommee Tippee teats are the same size, but with different flow options. Can a faster flow teat make reflux worse? Our self-sterilising anti-colic baby feeding bottles are multi-award winning, including the Loved By Parents (LPB) Platinum Award 2020, Mother & Baby Awards 2020 and Made for Mums Silver Award in 2019.Before the bottle is placed in the water bath or the bottle warmer, the sealing cap is always removed. The contents of the bottle must not boil – so do not pour any boiling liquids into it! Sterilising your baby’s bottles is vital, particularly for babies under one year because during this time they are even more vulnerable to harmful bacteria.

If your baby is struggling with their feeds – spluttering, choking coughing – or on the other side of the spectrum becoming agitated and fussy while eating, it could be time to change teats. Teats take quite a lot of hammering from little gums and teeth, so they need to be changed regularly. We recommend replacing teats every 2 months or at the first sign of any damage or weakness. Can I buy bottles with faster flowing teats? You are likely to change your baby’s teat size every two to three months. But that’s just a rough guide, and some babies may want a faster flow earlier than others.Whether you're looking for an anti-colic baby bottle, a self-sterilising baby bottle, or an environmentally-friendly glass bottle for bottle feeding - the range comes in sizes from 130ml (4.5fl/oz) right up to 330ml (11/fl/oz) with suitable slow to fast flow teats and accessories are available. As a baby’s feeding develops and they are taking a longer time feeding from a Level 3 teat, many parents choose to move up to a Level 4 teat. The self-sterilising function of the Easy Start™ Anti-Colic is proven to be effective for killing common household germs and bacteria. This method is completely sufficient and safe. For the best results, please follow all instructions carefully and use only as directed.

If you think I’ve missed any other obvious signs of when to change teat size, please comment below to help other Mums! I hope you found this useful. You can see rough similarities in the banding between them – but remember that one brand’s slow flow rate won’t necessarily be identical to another’s. Hi, my little one is 5 months old and I changed to teat size 3 2weeks ago. They are fast but persevere, your baby will get used to it just takes some time. I found my baby took to them better when I fed him just before he was due a feed, that way he wouldn't drink really fast just at a calm pace. Hope that helps. Oh and I also use MAM bottles!x I noticed with both teats and breast pump parts, such as filters, how the plastic seems to just degrade over time. When it comes to deciding on changing baby’s teat you can assess both the signs they’re ready as well as their age before taking the leap. Hi all, just wondering if any MAM users LO are still on teat size 2 this old? I tried her with size 3 about a month ago and it was still too fast.....
