Urasawa's work often concentrates on intricate plotting, interweaving narratives, a deep focus on character development and psychological complexity. Both versions keep the original Japanese sound effects in them (also still has a nice glossary at the back as well) to keep the versions consistent in some way. Monster was Urasawa's first work to receive international acclaim and success; the manga has sold over 20 million copies, making it one of the best-selling manga series in history. I love reading something and being able to come away from it totally understanding why it’s held in such high regard.
Director Heinemann and the other doctors in Tenma's way are mysteriously murdered, and both children disappear from the hospital. Later, Tenma tells Inspector Lunge about Johan and how he killed the three doctors at the Eisler Memorial Hospital and Junkers. There's the beloved and morally perfect Kenzo, his fiancée Eva who is the typical gold-digger with her pearls and lack of brains (a particular shame because she's the only female character we've got at this point in the plot) and the cruel director who's willing to do anything to make his hospital profit. Usually with manga you get one bum volume every now and again, with a story arc that goes nowhere or just silly one-shot gag settings that may have seemed hilarious to the creator at the time, but are lost in translation.Monster" is a masterful psychological thriller that explores themes of morality, identity, and the complex nature of good and evil. As a consequence of the intense psychological shock, Anna hasn't been able to say anything since the tragic occurrence, except for a single word "kill", she occasionally mutters. That however changes and moves away from that around chapter 5, when the book really kicks it up a notch and gets far more thrilling and exciting. The true extent of Johan's sinister plan becomes clearer, and the stakes rise for Tenma and the characters entangled in this web of intrigue.Just be warned that it really is just a taster on the tip of the tongue and you will be left feeling hard done by because you want to know what happens next.
