IGNITE ME really does ignite all five of your senses. It blows your mind and makes you hungry for more of its amazing characters. It will completely blow your expectations; Tahereh Mafi truly knows how to deliver!" - Teenreads.com Addictive, intense, and oozing with romance. I'm envious. I couldn't put it down." - Lauren Kate, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Fallen series But nothing learned within the novellas is crucial to the plot of the main series. They’ll only provide extra details that make the novels more impactful. Tahereh Mafi’s Shatter Me series has sold more than a million books. It’s a YA dystopian series centering around a girl named Juliette. Juliette has a very unique power in that anyone she touches dies.

The Shatter Me series is a YA Fantasy Romance. So let’s dissect that. First, Romance is an important aspect of the plot and it does contain romantic elements. But it’s also YA, or Young Adult, meaning that it’s meant for ages 13 to 17. Shatter Me was Mafi’s debut novel and was published when she was only 23 years old. The original trilogy went on to be translated into more than 30 languages and sell more than a million copies. Where are the girls what happened to the girls and where is Anderson and the war and oh God what’s happened to Adam and Kenji and Castle and I have to get up I have to get up I have to get up and get out of bed and get going

Toys

The short answer is Yes! You can skip the novellas. They aren’t necessary at all to understand the main story.

So basically Ignite Me pretty much starts off where Unravel Me leaves off with Juliette getting shot and Omega Point being destroyed. She’s clued in to what has happened and now Juliette becomes even more determined to take down the Reestablishment — at whatever cost — and she needs Warner to do it. In Unravel Me, she largely is learning about her powers and trying to OWN them and is also trying to heal mentally and overcome everything that happened in Shatter Me. In Ignite Me, Juliette stops feeling sorry for herself and goes balls to the walls with wanting to really 100% understand and control her powers for the good of the people. As such, the romance in Shatter Me is all very PG-13. There is no smut or explicitly sexual content. Kenji and Juliette board the ship. They get separated and Juliette is no longer invisible. She has to fight a tonne of soldiers, but eventually she finds Sara and Sonya. I actually stand up this time. My eyes are filling fast with tears and I blink and blink but the world is a mess and I want to laugh because all I can think is how horrible and beautiful it is, that our eyes blur the truth when we can’t bear to see it. Warner arrives and takes Juliette to the army base. He asks the others to come along as well. Everyone but Adam and James go along.

Hobbies

For those unaware, Mafi wrote the first three books and then there was a very large gap before she wrote Books 4-6. Good morning,” I assume. I’m unsure of my voice, of the hour and this day, of these words leaving my lips and this body that contains me. I’m so, so sad to let this series go. I’m in denial. I loved Juliette’s story throughout and I was pleased with Ignite Me overall. I was happy with the resolution to some of the bigger plot lines (namely the romance because I just FELT it in my hearts of hearts and made the most sense to me despite me being Team NOBODY coming out of Unravel Me). There were a few things I didn’t find to be “perfect” but I was so immersed in the story/the writing that I didn’t care. The only exception to that is my feelings on the ending being pretty rushed. It was resolved but rushed and I can’t explain it without spoilers so I’m going to just stop now. Warner finally feels a bond with Adam because he knows his father abused him too. How does Ignite Me end?

One side effect of this is that throughout the book there are crossed out lines, as if Juliette is writing in a journal and crosses out things she initially wrote, but changed her mind. Warner takes a deep breath. A million more. Right hand over left, spinning the jade ring on his pinkie finger over and over and over and over “It’s over,” he says. With Omega Point destroyed, Juliette doesn't know if the rebels, her friends, or even Adam are alive. But that won't keep her from trying to take down The Reestablishment once and for all. Warner teams up with Juliette. Adam gets really angry, because he’s an angry person. Juliette gathers a bunch of soldiers and asks them to help her kill the Supreme Commander. They head into battle and win. Warner and Juliette are endgame. what happened in Ignite Me?Tahereh Mafi is a best-selling YA Fantasy author best known for the Shatter Me series. However, she’s also written other books like This Woven Kingdom and A Very Large Expanse of Sea. The latter was named one of the best YA books of all time by Time Magazine.

No,” I say. “No. No. Don’t be stupid,” I say to him. “Don’t be ridiculous,” I say to him. “Don’t lie to me goddamn you,” but now my voice is high and broken and shaking and “No,” I gasp, “no, no, no—” I pull myself into a seated position and Warner shifts to accommodate me. I have to close my eyes to steady the sudden dizziness, but I force myself to remain still until the feeling passes.

Goodreads Summary:

Juliette tells everyone that she is in charge now that the Supreme Commander is dead. Everyone salutes her as Warner stands next to her. There you go! That’s what happened in Ignite Me. Hope youenjoyed this recap ofIgnite Me with spoilers. Kenji fills Juliette on on what’s been going on. He says he and the rest of the group tried to help the people at Omega Point, but it was kind of hopeless. They’re now staying in Adam’s apartment.
