There have been some tremendous multi-disc/film box sets releases during 2020, and some really big hitters from the likes of Columbia and Disney, but smaller companies like Arrow have also hit the ground running with legacy content packaged in lavish sets; our pick of the best is below. As many of you will no doubt be aware, The Rise of Skywalker is arriving on all home video formats on 3/31 for the very first time. We do not sell your contact details, but we may share the data with any 3rd-parties for prize fulfilment purposes only when relating to a competition. The whole is epic in every sense of the word; locations, sets, acting talent, design and story – we are unlikely to ever see its like again. There have been several remasters over the years when the movies arrived on DVD and then Blu-ray and now 4K so they’ve been in great shape. With all that in mind here’s our take on the best scenes in the Star Wars films that will make you appreciate the quality you can enjoy from the 4K disc. Like all films based on real people, it takes certain liberties with the truth to make for a more dramatic narrative, but the end result is a study in dignity that is emotional, enthralling and above all unforgettable. But what was also amazing was how much the HDR improved the image and showed off shapes and objects in the shadows we normally would have missed.

Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga (4K UHD Review) - The Digital Bits

This means that the complete edition, including all nine films from the Skywalker Saga, now has a confirmed release date. Black levels are tremendous, indeed the whole disc is somewhat darker giving a strong frame depth; check out Leia hiding in the shadows before being stunned by the Stormtroopers, or C-3PO popping up from the shadows after R2 has run off. The 4K UHD package from Disney is amazing; a lavish box set, housing all discs from the ‘Skywalker Saga’ in a presentation book; with Star Wars receiving a new scan that shows up more detail than ever before with a rich colour scheme that is bold and vivid, even if it’s based on the last ‘Special Edition’ so the colours are not ‘pure’ in terms of how they used to be. It is like seeing the film on the big screen where everything is on show again, you see the imperfections, the ‘dirtying up’ of the ‘universe’, the coarseness of the props, and yet, somehow, it makes it all the more real. Much has been said and written about George Lucus’ most successful film, so it’s somewhat difficult to bring something fresh to a review. The 4K UHD package from Disney is amazing; a lavish box set, housing all discs from the ‘Skywalker Saga’ in a presentation book; with Star Wars receiving a new scan that shows up more detail than ever before with a rich colour scheme that is bold and vivid, even if it’s based on the last ‘Special Edition’ so the colours are not ‘pure’ in terms of how it used to be. The only exception is The Last Jedi, Solo, and The Rise of Skywalker—those do not have the new packaging. Talking of which, the Star Destroyer coming from overhead in the beginning is jaw dropping; indeed, any of the action sequences make full use of the speakers, surround and overhead, in an all-out orgy for the senses. What the 4K discs revealed were details we didn’t know were there even though we’ve watched them hundreds of times. Disney and Lucasfilm have officially announced the digital and home release dates for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. As a 4K UHD set, the anniversary package from Studiocanal is sensational; the native 4K image is awash with detail and keen edges, while the greyscale gives a tremendous look with pitch blacks and luminous whites, while the DTS-HD MA stereo track is wide, layered with clear dialogue and strong bass. Each of these box sets contains all nine films, and will also ship for the April 20 release date this year. We suspect this has something to do with the fact they were all shot digitally and not on film like the original movies.Often regarded, and rightly so, as Ealing Studio’s greatest comedy, The Ladykillers celebrates its 65 th Anniversary with this new 4K Blu-ray.

The Star Wars Skywalker Saga Box Set A Waste of Money? Is The Star Wars Skywalker Saga Box Set A Waste of Money?

It includes 26-hours of bonus content, 27 disks including all nine films in the saga, a unique box set, and a concept art book. We are all familiar with the issues that the previous Blu-ray release had, well you can pretty much banish that disc from your collection, as this new scan blows it away. Most of the previous DVD special features are not included—and of course, the original unaltered theatrical cuts of Star Wars, Empire, and Jedi are not included. On the audio side, the directional sound of the Tie Fighters circling and the Millennium Falcon speeding away to evade them was amazing. A number of interviews titled: Tatooine Overview, Mark Hamill Interview, Anthony Daniels Interview, Aboard the Death Star Overview, Carrie Fisher Interview, and Battle of Yavin Overview. Universal's Back to the Future Trilogy box set brings all three movies to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray with native 4K presentations and Dolby Atmos tracks, as well as a boat-load of extras not only on the 4K disc itself but also on a dedicated Bonus Disc in the set. During its development, Lucas cast his net far and wide, with most of it emulating master film maker Akira Kurosawa, in particular The Hidden Fortress, in which the story telling device was through two bedraggled peasants, whose bickering and friendship allowed the film to unfold – an idea that was stolen wholeheartedly with the droids C-3P0 and R2-D2 and one which proved to be a winning combination. The ninth and final Star War film in the Skywalker saga – The Rise of Skywalker – has been released on 4K UHD but an equally exciting release on 4K disc is the original and prequel trilogies for the very first time.
